Advice to my 20 year old self on building muscle

Спорт

Looking back, this is the 3 things I would tell my 20-year-old-self on how to speed up the development of muscle much faster.
1. Focus on muscle contractions
2. Don't chase the numbers
3. Don't make the exercise easier.
If I knew these things before, I would have developed my body much faster and saved a lot of unnecessary injuries and time on having to reteach my body how to train.

I've been dealing with physical pain since I've been 15. As soon I started working out, a couple of years ago I noticed something wrong, my body wasn't only weak but also it had developed very bad biomechanical, neuromuscular habits. I had to take it very slow from the very beginning. Every time narcissism tried to show in my training, I would result injured. Correct form is always the way to go. Always take care of form. So I can't agree more with you on this one. Excellent video.

Only when I started doing what is hard, is when i started growing! For the longest time when i first started doing body weight training i could not do a single pull up so i would do rows instead but eventually the realization came to me that if I don’t start attempting pull ups ill never improve at them. So now I always go for what is most difficult with the best form possible. Its the only way to truly grow!🙏🏼💪🏼 thanks mike you’re awesome!!👏🏼

You're so right the 3rd one is HUGE Mike! In my workouts I tend to do this especially with pullups! When the pullups get tough I find myself making contact with the ground with my feet and do a small jump.. Or I'm not hanging and instead pull myself up form a standing position.. Thanks for bringing this up I'll have to remind myslf to stop making the exercises easy when near breaking point! Make them HARDER!

Nevertheless mike you looked great in your sixpackshortcuts period! I am guessing that that time was your more focussed and shaping period cause i am still training at home to those vids and you give great advice and workouts in them. Guess you were in your beginning 30s back then (your physical peak during your sps time). I have the feeling we are about the same age (i am 38 now). Anyway, good tips on this vid and keep m coming (and the workouts), will be doing one in a short while ;-)

Hi Mike, great video as usual :) quick question on tip one. When you say stop going to low in reps what rep range would you recommend? I know you do a lot of timed sets instead of rep count but if you were to recommend a rep range would it be something around 10-15?

Hi Mike I love watching your videos. You give me motivation doing things in my life. I wanted to ask you today a question. I went on the beach today and one of my mates took the piss out of my body. I used to have a good body about 10 years ago. And went through some hard timesvin my life and lost myself on the way here. I have my chest is gone like a really puffy and my friend said I've got man boobs. It did hurt me because I don't even take my t shirt when I go on the beach. How do I deal with this please. It did bother me. I'm normally a positive, I do try. Please help my friend
