Advice to my 20 year old self on building muscle
Спорт
Looking back, this is the 3 things I would tell my 20-year-old-self on how to speed up the development of muscle much faster.
1. Focus on muscle contractions
2. Don't chase the numbers
3. Don't make the exercise easier.
If I knew these things before, I would have developed my body much faster and saved a lot of unnecessary injuries and time on having to reteach my body how to train.

“Don’t chase the numbers” I like that mike! Change my whole view real quick
Say what you want about Mike, but he got me into working out in the first place.

Also!! Stay focused and worry about finding you! not women they will come as you gain personal wisdom and momentum.. 30 seconds of reps in everything not for time for Fundamentals andcontrol it last longer 🤫

That's why powerbuilding is very popular, therapeutic heavy lifting combined with isolation work and HIIT
MIKE CHANG!! Im still bumping "Workout buddies" sometimes when I workout. Glad your making videos again man. I miss those ads. haha
The best coach on KZread since sixpackshortcuts 💪🏼 , big supporter from Israel
Relate to all of these! I used to chase numbers too 😂😬 wiser now! Thanks for tips
I've been dealing with physical pain since I've been 15. As soon I started working out, a couple of years ago I noticed something wrong, my body wasn't only weak but also it had developed very bad biomechanical, neuromuscular habits. I had to take it very slow from the very beginning. Every time narcissism tried to show in my training, I would result injured. Correct form is always the way to go. Always take care of form. So I can't agree more with you on this one. Excellent video.
Only when I started doing what is hard, is when i started growing! For the longest time when i first started doing body weight training i could not do a single pull up so i would do rows instead but eventually the realization came to me that if I don’t start attempting pull ups ill never improve at them. So now I always go for what is most difficult with the best form possible. Its the only way to truly grow!🙏🏼💪🏼 thanks mike you’re awesome!!👏🏼
Great advice mike, muscle contraction is very important. I don't go heavy on most of my training, I chase results and progression for longetivity. 👍
Thaank you sooo much Mike
All your videos are very interesting and I love the way you encourage people to talk to their bodies, to love their bodies and what is more important to respect it and listen to it. Also, I think it is important that we thank the universe and the mother earth and nature for what we have.
Great advice - I found slowing down reps are the best for me as well!
Beautiful advice
Iv trained and taught in the gyms since 1989, and still have a good shape. Maintenance is key once youre there
Hi Mike, I watched You in 2011-2013. I do not know, how old are You now, but I am happy I see You again in 2020 still doing fitness, not giving up, but growing wiser. I do too. Love x
Got what i came here for. Thanks Mike! :)
Thanks Mike, I'm 20 years old so I'm glad I can hear this
You're so right the 3rd one is HUGE Mike! In my workouts I tend to do this especially with pullups! When the pullups get tough I find myself making contact with the ground with my feet and do a small jump.. Or I'm not hanging and instead pull myself up form a standing position.. Thanks for bringing this up I'll have to remind myslf to stop making the exercises easy when near breaking point! Make them HARDER!

What a timing of this video! Past week Ive been noticing Ive been going a little easy on myself.. Instead of trying to improve your physique , strive to improve your performance and form
All good advice here. I’m well past 20 but just starting to get into calisthenics.. never too late to start
Mike, i have never commented on your videos before but thank you for all you have done for me in my life. You inspired me to work out over 12 years ago and it changed my life forever. . I did have bowling ball shoulders for a while :) Anyway thanks for the return and please continue the interactions. Have a great day today!!

@@thebesttheworst2277 Yeah it was one of his old videos about shoulder burning exercise it's basically all the basic shoulder exercises one after the other excluding press and with push ups on the end for 5 sets with light weights
Honest. Helpful. Wise.
mike chang , a shining star in a dark blue sky . thanks mike ; namaste
Great video
tnx mike insightful
It would be awesome if you could do some Videos on your nutrition, in general but also full day of eatings etc. :)
Great mike sir i am your big fan
Back in the day it was all about the weights, no stretching, the burgers, havin all kindzz of pasta, and now today all I want to do is focus on my running, stretch, use my foam roller and have tea....
Nevertheless mike you looked great in your sixpackshortcuts period! I am guessing that that time was your more focussed and shaping period cause i am still training at home to those vids and you give great advice and workouts in them. Guess you were in your beginning 30s back then (your physical peak during your sps time). I have the feeling we are about the same age (i am 38 now). Anyway, good tips on this vid and keep m coming (and the workouts), will be doing one in a short while ;-)
Slowing down the reps when training makes a world of a difference. Wish I knew that when I started lifting.

Hi Mike, great video as usual :) quick question on tip one. When you say stop going to low in reps what rep range would you recommend? I know you do a lot of timed sets instead of rep count but if you were to recommend a rep range would it be something around 10-15?
Hi Mike I love watching your videos. You give me motivation doing things in my life. I wanted to ask you today a question. I went on the beach today and one of my mates took the piss out of my body. I used to have a good body about 10 years ago. And went through some hard timesvin my life and lost myself on the way here. I have my chest is gone like a really puffy and my friend said I've got man boobs. It did hurt me because I don't even take my t shirt when I go on the beach. How do I deal with this please. It did bother me. I'm normally a positive, I do try. Please help my friend
Mike what are some basic weight lifting moves that I can do daily to build muscle, whole body? While as you say focusing on form, contraction, reps.
So true. Too much weight and I realize I'm just hurting my joints and tendons instead of working the muscle itself.
Below 20 gang. I saw this video when it first came out and had to come back here
