Adventure Bike Action Cameras- Where to stick it!

In preparation for future trips out on the PR7, I have spent some time experimenting with camera positions to give me the best options to capture the essence of the trail. I hope you find something of interest in my dalliances. Links to the camera and accessories are listed below.

Cool. Don’t think I’ll ever mount on top or side of my helmet. Having a PR7, I understand some of the limitations though. Haven’t ridden with a chin mount on this bike yet, maybe I’ll try it later, but sitting will certainly be limited view. I get that on top gives you full access to 360, but I think most riders mount for 180-270 degrees of view, and just move the camera from time to time. (Or can afford 2 camera 😂). Life is full of compromises.

Hi Steve, the second part of the video, through the village, was the chin guard mount. I too didn't want a helmet mounted camera, but apart from remembering to duck, I don't even know its there. I use 3 cages mounted ready to swap the camera around the 3 positions. (can't afford 2 cameras :-) I love the ability with 360 to retrospectively go back and look at the ride from other angles, to see what I missed first time around. .... there is always compromise! ;-)

I would not consider mounting a camera on top of the helmet, too dangerous in event of a self inflicted crash or being taken out by some other vehicle. This was the reason that F1's Michael Schumacher is in the state he is today (the camera/mount going thro' his helmet on impact into his brain) As for quality with the 360, this video is one of the worst I've seen, nothing was crisp or sharp about it, might have been just wrong settings for the application. Best positioning I find is to have the 360 on an extended 'stick' as far back facing forwards or as far forward facing back, with Gopro on a chin mount, yes tall screens can get in the way but this also adds to the riders perspective giving the viewer more of a riding experience especially when standing up oor sitting down.
