Hi, do you think I can correct timing without removing vanos unit? I have 15-40 on camshaft and I should have 20-45 or like you 23-48. my 328 is running like 323.. not a big difference, but it is still there.

Possibly you could slip a wrench in and make it happen. I haven't tried but it could be possible

In the software INPA. Under the code screen you will see "Adaptions". You can then clear the ecu learning for various things. Cam/vanos, Throttle position, etc.

I have an issue with vanos exhaust limit not reached. Not sure where to go with that. It will not go past 4k under load. Not sure it is the issue or just an issue

Sounds like that is a newer engine with Vanos on both the Intake cam and the Exhaust cam?

It’s a stock m52b28 camshaft. I use INPA, RomRaider, and megalogviewer for all this

@@spankranchgarage I get an error code 212 inpa. Single vanos m52. Camshaft degrees range from 16-24. I'm using the m54b30 camshaft. Vanos repaired. But the solenoid is not healthy. I doubt it. The piston inside the solenoid is inconsistent. I doubt the timing. But the timing was set up with the kit. The engine sometimes runs rough and idle is sometimes bad. I suspect timing or solenoid

We’re you super careful to turn engine only clockwise during your timing setup? Also do you mean it fluctuates from 16-24 at idle? That’s not good

@@spankranchgarage Inpa camshaft degrees 16-24 live data. Yes, it is translated 2 times in the direction of the clock. And timing is controlled. Everything is true and the rocker cover is fitted. Does timing deteriorate as time goes on? There may be such a possibility

Timing moving 8 degrees at idle indicates to me that there is some mechanical issue. Perhaps main timing chain tensioner, secondary chain tensioner, or a loose reluctor wheel on the intake cam
