Adjusting the Power on my Stoeger XM1 S4

Ойын-сауық

My Stoeger XM1 was wildly inaccurate, mainly due to very inconsistent power. In this video I change the transfer port to get it under control.
These transfer ports fit the Stoeger XM1: www.trrobb.com/details/p14494...

It didn't exactly tame the power, but it is more consistent. Further testing required to see about accuracy.

If you regulated this you could probably treable the shot count, set at 12 ft/lbs.

@airgunsniper-elite7385 I have since stripped it down further and found the regulator, have screwed it down so it's now sitting around 19 joules/14ft lbs fairly consistently, might screw it down some more. Just weighing pellets now, they seem quite varied.

@Maddogairguns It's a shame that they didn't make a larger cylinder, as shot count will always suffer. I have just had to fix my valve stem on an old AGS PCR1 rifle. That has a slim cylinder and is probably only good for 20 shots, making it a hunting rifle rather than a target rifle. Looking at the Italian design, the Stoeger is definitely an eye catcher, and it is great value for what you get. I am waiting for a new hammer spring for the PCR1 and will be posting a video on the process when complete. Happy Shooting Mark Holding.

@@airgunsniper-elite7385 Yes it is a nice rifle, I probably should have sent it back being as it was full power. I am going to replace the hammer spring on mine. I have heard a lighter spring works well on this rifle, just not sure where to get one from. All the ones I have seen are upgraded for more power.

I had the same problem with this model, so i drilled the original transfer port out to 2mm and i'm getting a maximum of 11.3f/lbs from a poor 9ft/lbs

The man cave with the UK castrated air guns "all the way up" to 12 foot pounds! 😂

What is the solution to air leaking from the gun?

Mad Dog, can I ask where you purchased that bipod for the XM1?

Looks like you need to back off the hammer spring. Seems like it's using more air than it needs to be using, and the reduction in transfer port just created a resistance to transfer which stretched the amount of air being used. Increase in velocities might be from the finish/polish or mating of the replacement transfer port. If you back off the hammer spring now, you should be able to maintain the same speed and increase your shot count.

Theres no adjustment on the hammer spring, I have been looking for a lighter one that will fit and give that a try.
