Adjustable Quality Mud Flaps - Toyota Tacoma - How to Install, Review - RekGen Sliding

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

RekGen is at the top of the quality pile when it comes to aftermarket mud flaps. Their new sliding version brings some needed adjustment for both lifted Toyota Tacomas and ones with wider offset wheels/tires. In this video, I show a full install of these front and rear flaps and a mini review of them.

I have the Rekgen flaps that are all plastic on my 23 TRD Pro. They are solid and look excellent.

These mudflaps look rigid and probably will stand the test of time but it would be nice if they were contoured like the OEM ones. Thanks for showing the install Rich.

Yeah, I like the look of the stock versions best.....but they easily get in the way and get broken easily.

When I got my Taco I was hoping someone made a more discreet looking guard, lind of like in the arav that would offer some protection but blend in wirh the running boards. These look sturdy for 4x4.

These have faired pretty good on my pretty much stock suspension / wheels / tires Tacoma. They're a nice blend of semi rigid and flexible if that's a thing

Just curious, do you remove all the stock screws or replace them in the unused screw holes and leave open the holes for the new screws?

Yes, all stock screws get removed....including the hidden one on the bottom I pointed out. I only replaced the ones on the bottom.....otherwise the new flaps' screws get used in the existing holes

RekGen only has a couple offerings for the 5th gen 4runner and not the sliding version. Not sure if the bolt pattern is different or what...

I doubt it, the plastic section is a good 1/4" thick. the steel re-enforced section is just at the bottom.

I'm holding off for now - it's a 2022 with 18K. I'm being frugal trying to use the stock tires up. Hopefully in summer 2024, I'll add a 3/2 lift, 17" wheels and some 285 Wildpeaks. But, I want to do it right with the right items (for the lift)

Going to be honest. I wish they had some sort of contour design. Don't like the flat look.

Wishing they both hung a little lower (about 2 inches lower), and also were way more flexible. I guess I ask too much. All of them, especially the stock flaps, are too damned stiff.

  • @tacomanetwork

Yeah, I can't agree more - especially the flexibility portion. The stocks are really bad.

@@tacomanetwork yeah, off-roaders simply remove them because of how they break and how stress that happens can break its mount too. That's not a perfect solution. A longer, more flexible mud flap makes a lot more sense to me.
