Hi have questions. Context: BFF lives in Studio -300 sqft. Already found him a queen loft bed on Craigslist for free and installed, also made him a pegboard rack thing that pannels the previously exposed back of the refrigerator to hang his pots, pans, and ladles from. Now I'm on a quest to help him win counter space. His current kitchen set-up includes almost this exact countertop just doesn't have the white racks underneath or on the side (www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sunnersta-mini-kitchen-s29393399/), and a full size portable dishwasher with butcher block top that I found on Craigslist for free again. Anyway, I originally found a butcher block floating island on Facebook MarketPlace for $10, and got it to refinish the block and eventually repurpose it as a leaf to the portable dishwasher for overhang seating and extra counter space, but I have a major issue here... The weight! It'll tip it over if th dishwasher isn't full! Additionally the dishwasher is too tall to fit under the stainless steel countertop and I'm starting to wonder if extra counter space/overhang seeing wouldn't be a bad idea to have tucked away underneath. So now, I want to make a make shift sit stand counter with locking castors that can be adjusted easily to store under the stainless steel counter, pulled out and adjusted to the height of the portable dishwasher butcher block top or stainless steel counter for extra counter space and adjusted for seating if desired. I'm learning a lot. I want it to be a manual mechanism to adjust it to keep costs down and longevity in its integrity. How would you recommend approaching this?

Abigail Rommel that is a great thing that you are doing! There are a few different ways of making something like this depending how n the tools that you have available. Can you weld? Or are you looking for some kind of mechanical device that all ready exists that you can repurpose?

@@DoingitWithjason I do not know enough about welding, but I’m good at Jerry rigging/repurposing pre-existing fasteners and whatnot that you can find in the hardware store. I do have a heat gun and I can sort of solder with that... I’ve genuinely only done that to patch plaster and other plastic oriented fixes like pool lining and kayak hole repair. I can work well with wood, but I do want this to be stable and I’m not super confident in a mechanical system built with wood I am going for something like this as far as size goes (www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/audio-visual-direct-ergonomic-adjustable-standing-desk-avdr1013.html) Something like this as far as mechanics goes ( www.ikea.com/us/en/p/skarsta-desk-sit-stand-white-s89324812/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw1qL6BRCmARIsADV9JtYqRsi0h3T1eSMV5nPW5hXV_J_IEtwYCQ5OGEQMSn0CWLgaBwlGzooaAoECEALw_wcB ) And for the bottom, I want it to be a hybrid of the two (I'd like castor's like the first, but space between like the second so that it straddles the Rev a shelf garbage and recycling make shift platform with castors thing I made him

Hi I just wanted to share an update. I ended up helping him find a countertop sized portable dishwasher. It fit perfectly underneath the sink. And then we set up this sort of command hook thing to hold the hose up so that the water doesn't just dispense all over the floor the minute you take it off the faucet. Then we got a baker's rack that fit his microwave underneath the counter space of the baker's rack. I spent under $100. And he is pay me back by selling the full size portable dishwasher for $100! that full size portable dishwasher I got for free off Craigslist. So I'm pretty happy.

I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up kzread.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

I like the gold thing. Sometimes you just have to walk around the hardware or automotive store for the thing that inspires you, that thing you didn't know existed and there's probably something better out there but this will do the job. Totally not using it for its intended purpose but it works.

Genius! I've been looking into making an adjustable drawing/painting table. I like the antique drafting table type but I can't find a source for the mechanism and the antique tables cost a fortune. I'm giving this a try. If I get any compliments I will send people to your video here. And if I get any criticism of the design (there's always one clown in the bunch that will claim they could have done it better) that's on me. 😆 Going to check out your other videos too. Cheers!
