Adjust your own guitar truss rods!

Seems a few of you out there are a bit intimidated about adjusting your own truss rods. Let's fix that. There's only one rule- gently! If you find your truss isn't adjusting, don't force it- take it to a good tech. Hope this helps!

This video series takes us from an empty workshop, to a fully operational small shop luthiery operation over the course of 3 months. I'll show you the jigs and templates I use, how to make your own, with downloadable CNC files, cut lists, and blueprints for each project.

That section between 1:47 and 2:00 is the most succinct and clear I've ever seen anyone demonstrate that. Because even though it's simple in concept, it gets over explained. I have a simple question that's almost related to this. I'm very new to making guitars (just made my second ever neck). The truss rods you showed at the start had a plastic wrap around them. Is that to prevent corrosion in transit and storage - or should it stay on to stop it rattling? I've been taking it off... but I wasn't sure and couldn't find anywhere that said.

Hey, thanks Chris! It really is a simple operation. Hopefully it helps some people out.

Sorry Chris, I didn't see the second part of your comment. I leave the sleeve on. It's an added barrier in case of errant glue squeeze-out, and it stops rattle as you correctly diagnosed. If you do take it off in future, make sure you put some liquid silicone at each end to stop it vibrating in the channel.
