Sand may also be off Sadie's paws
it was so hot in July and then it hit these beautiful 70's and 80 degree temps ever since! Welcome to my neck the woods!
Leaches means the water is extremely pure. They do not live in polluted waters. Might be a good thing to pack table salt along with that bug spray for future river baths. And for Sadie. If you or dog Get leach attached u put salt on and they immediately drop off without causing more skin damage. Might sting a bit but better then having a leach stuck on you. A stepic pencil like men use to stop shave bleeds also will stop the bleeding after you remove them as they have anticoagulant they put on you to keep blood flowing. Not a bad item to have on hand for falls and scrapes that keep bleeding. They are not entirely horrible. If you have a infection a leach can be your friend and suck the poison out of wounds. They now have begun again using medical leaches for gangrene and diabetic wounds that don't heal. Something to keep in mind. Good video. I've done camper beds and they do suck, especially at 70 years old.
I love beans. I always crave cornbread with beans. So healthy easy and delicious

When I was a little girl (I'm 69 y/o now) my mother always made corn bread and beans for Friday night dinner.
Beautiful countryside, and your soup looked absolutely delicious! Sadie is a sweet, obedient doggy!
Oh my leeches for sure! When I was a kid I would play in the brook and I'd come home with leeches stuck on my legs. They would leave marks where they were attached on my legs. My poor Mom couldn't get them off so I'd have to do it. You find such great campsites. I love the Adirondacks. So peaceful.
Omg leeches! They are in a lot of creeks in WA. I got some on me when I was 9. Traumatized!!!
You know what I love the most about you Carolyn, and supporting your channel? You are sooo down-to-earth and never try to be extravagant or impress anyone! I love that simple and true humbleness about you dear! ❤

@ I just made 16 bean & ham soup yesterday. I also add stewed tomatoes and fresh herbs. Love soups. Yum.😊💃
Oh, hahaha! When I saw your title today, I thought you were going to talk about missing Rangers in the national forests. 😮
I went camping on the Eel river California once. We didn't see it, but there was green algae in it. By the time we ran outta there, my dog was vomiting vile, it was bad, he was fading right in front of me. Our vet was nextdoor to apartment, he was there still at 6. He saved my dogs life. But only cuz he was there still. And we ran so fast. He lived 18 years, with a couple close calls, 1 time from tennis ball parts...same vet, saved him again. Dinner looks good!!! ❤❤ Jeannie in Lakeport California
Nice. I see footprints, quite large, with no claws routinely in WA state.
Love the Adirondacks! Fortunately, they are not too far from my house. Thanks for sharing..........

That was a fun video. A little bit of everything. Thanks!!!
I know exactly what you’re talking about with the corner bed! I only use a bottom sheet then whatever covers I need!
That's why it was swimming towards your feet!
Sew button loops onto a flat sheet (or turn your fitted sheet into a flat sheet and sew button loops onto it). Then sew buttons onto the side of the mattress. It makes the whole bed-making process SO much easier!!
There are some absolutely beautiful places up there. I camp near Paseco, which is near Spectacular!
Wow. Such great ideas. Vinegar. Yeah!! Thanks for keeping it real. I need to know the truth before I try it. A client lived in his RV. He got the state of California to recognize it as a DOMOCILE. I cleaned everything, did his laundry, made the bed, did the dishes took out garbage. I learned how to get and get rid of water and replace it. It was 15.00 5 years ago...it's hard work. I did it once a week. IHSS caregivers can now work for folks in RV's, thanks Hank.
I notice you're not parked facing your exit point. Wondered why? I only mention as it's the one tip from early videos that has stuck that I use often in normal parking situations with my car 😊

I got out of watching KZread for a few years, but I’m getting caught up now. I think about Capone and your trip to Alaska all the time. I’m glad to see you’re still true to your true self! I think I’d like the Adirondacks!
I have a tight east west bed in my trailer and use a 4 inch topper on top of the rv mattresss, benefit is you can put your pad and bottom sheet on the tooper instead, much easier to change out. Use a bed skirt to hide the exposed part of the mattress.Sleep just fine on it and I like as soft bed.
You are in our old stomping grounds when we used to camp. Beautiful area. Check out Moose River Wilderness if you get a chance. Stay safe and enjoy!
Been watching for years but never felt the need to comment. Ive always had so much to LEARN...but I wanted to say Thank You! Been NOMADING for over 3 years now -and still Learning. Thanks Again.

I get the water saving thing. We live in the country with well water. When our pump goes down it can be 2 days to 2 weeks for the fix to happen. I can bath with washing my hair in 1 gallon of water.
It's so nice to see scenery from upstate NY. So many KZread channels show only the west coast. These camping videos are a refreshing change of pace. Thank u!

You said the dragonflies were terrible. You must have meant to say some other insect name. You would not need repellent for dragonflies. My dog, Deeks, always stops when a car/truck passes by like Sadie does. They look like leeches to me.

yep those are leaches, growing up as a kid in Minnesota I was always pulling them off me after swimming in the lake, it hurt. lol now just the idea of it grosses me out
I'm totally in ❤❤❤ with the tile around you're stove, the colors are beautiful ❤❤
I use a quick zip bottom sheet because it goes over the whole mattress but I can just unzip the top part (that contacts my body) to launder it without struggling with the whole mattress. I'm also going to pick up a sleeping bag liner (cotton/silk sea to summit) this week to try out that is lightweight because my son is taking me on a trip to Ireland/England this fall (never been out of the country except for Canada, so excited) and it's a great idea for when staying in hotels, hostels, air bnbs, etc.
All that bed making felt familiar.
When I was a kid in NY state, we were playing in a creek, and I had a leach get stuck on my leg! It was so gross! And yes, those are leaches! I think that’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen! 🤮🤮 Happy Camping and Safe Travels! Hope you are carrying bear spray with you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🐶🐶

no thanks to leeches! Lovely area. Really enjoyed this slice of your life. I can relate to the bedmaking struggle.
Yes your always cleaning, sometimes an it’s everyday 2 to 3 times a day. That pot was an old pressure cooker, those are so hard to find! Do you know how much solar you would need to run what you need to work? Those are leeches….yes check Sadie!
Get mattress corner straps. 100% satisfaction. I use them. At keast you have more space at the end of the bed. My zinc counter is the wsññ ot rests against. I HATE DOING MY BED!
We call dinner time/dusk, "bug o'clock". Been using & raving about bamboo sheets for yrs. So comfy. & yes, they do slide a bit. I've got a bed surrounded on 3 sides in a tiny SF apt & the struggle is real. Lol'd @ Sadie going for & getting the "stick". & thought "like mother, like doggo". She knows what she wants & goes for it! Thx for your reality videos. Kudos
What do you use to keep ticks and fleas off of Sadie? Yum, those beans look amazing. OMG, love the vinegar and water spray idea!!!!! terrific.
😂😂😂😂when you threw the pillow at the camera 🤣🤣🤣it was like you were just over it
Great video Caroline. Nice seeing the everyday life of RVers
Good thing I'm tolerant of dirt. Ever make a cabover bed? Sadie is the best. Leeches are gross. They let go sprinkled with salt. Beautiful camp.
I love these kinds of videos real life living in your RV
Check for ticks all the time.
Order "sheetbelts" keep corners on. Keep a small bowl of water and rinse Sadie's paws off, and it'll cut down on the sand in your bed, and floors.
This made me remember you finding places to soak your feet on the PCT - I could imagine the amazing cold against hot, sweaty feet. What a gift. Yeah, your beans looked terrific - more veggies mean more moisture, flavor and nutrition. Another good one!

Carolyn, I really enjoyed this video. I had to chuckle. When you realized the eels were leaches I was thinking to myself, "Gross is right. I sure hope you check Sadie...." And immediately you say, like you heard me, you replied that you did check Sadie. Made me laugh. I love your channel. Been watching you from the beginning. We've both been thru alot of $hit all these years but you have always been a constant. I think we've both mellowed a bit. Love ya!! (AND Sadie!)🐾
Love 💕 watching you cook .
Hi Carolyn, As far as your sheet corners, there are little clamps with elastic that that you can buy to hold the bottom of the sheet corners together so the sheet can't slip off like that. That would help you a lot. As far as the sand, I'm guessing, it's from Sadie sleeping on the bed and running on and off the bed. Dog's paws get dirtier than they look sometimes.
Wow that stew looks delicious. Love your site it looks so peaceful.💕❤️
Nice watching you again!
You’re in my childhood stomping grounds! And the first year of full time boondocking I spent in the Adirondacks! I panicked at first when I couldn’t get a hold of a ranger, but after a few summers boondocking up there realized they’re pretty laid back as long as you’re not moving in! I would call for a permit but like your experience they often wouldn’t show up for days, or at all!
That bean dish looked so tasty. Imma have to try the recipe.
I changedcfrom fitted sheet to 2 flat sheets on my corner bed, seem to have more to tuck under and they stay better than the fitted bottom sheet. Give it a try💕
I loved this video! Your soup looked fantastic. I'll be so happy when I can camp again. Thank you for letting us all hangout. 🙂
My RV travel buddy and fur-baby is named Sadie too!
I have a simple solution. I had the same problem with getting sheets on my mattress. Before you start putting on the sheet, pull the mattress off-skew from the bedframe. Yep, just pull the mattress off the frame a little sideways, put on the sheet, and shove it back on the frame. Easy peasy.
Beautiful area. I do luv New England.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beans look yummy. I'd be adding curry powder since I'm on a curry kick right now. Appreciate your water conservation tips. I think they're leeches, but they look like fish bait to me!😊

I enjoyed your video, I have been to Speculator several times, I am from upstate NY near the Adirondack Mountains. I spent many summers up there visiting family. My Mom is from there & my Dad is from Ohio so we moved to Ohio when I was 3 or 4 years old.
I trained my dog to freeze when she hears or sees a car, also. Good girl, Sadie!! I cannot wait to travel...
Loved this, thank you for sharing! Not sure whether that was a bear or a dear but from other videos I have watched there is something else that lurks in the woods that makes that "ticking sound" that could be heard when you walked away!!
