No one want to talk about the fact Langford was ping HTB in the worst decision of the night

The umpiring in that game was atrocious from the very start to the very end, both teams copped bad decisions all night. Crows fans should be happy with their percentage as Essendon have been a very accurate goal kicking team this season. 10.18 could have been a 10 goal thumping and all over at 3/4 time, it wasn't so it turned into a great last quarter for neutral viewers. Bombers fans should be worried about Draper playing 50% of every game forward with no ability to kick a drop punt 30m directly in front, the bloke kicks like an Auskicker at halftime. Good four quarter Friday night footy ✅

Couldn't agree more. The umpiring was poor all night but the decision not to award the free at the end was the correct one. The Crows played for it and the ump wasn't fooled.

@@EmbraceThePing 100% right ✅ Walker was caught 35 seconds earlier, with the exact same result, could have been penalised, but wasn't. Unlike the entire match the final minute of umpiring was actually consistent.

He didn't deserve a free but the key here was he DIDN'T get a free.....as opposed to Adelaide not getting a free at the end when they did deserve one.....but they may have missed anyway.

What a jumper from Essendon. Love it

For those saying “crows were robbed” you can see it from two angles. From one angle it looks like Walker clearly taps the ball underneath Draper as he falls down, but from another angle it looks like Draper dragged it in. At the end of the day it was the umpires decision to give the free kick or not. And even if it was given the game wasn’t guaranteed for Adelaide to kick that goal

Essendon were the better and more composed side for majority of the game last night IMO. At the end Draper probably should have been pinged holding the ball. But then again, the bombers really should have put the crows away earlier in the game as their kicking efficiency at goal wasn't good. P.S, how about that instance when Langford got pinged holding the ball at the end of the 1st half?

I was on the edge of my seat just hoping the bombers could put enough pressure on to close the game

Regardless of whether it was holding the ball or not, AFL needs to change their system and review these types of game changing moments. It’s a joke how they spend countless hours on useless goal reviews but when there’s a game on the line and a 50/50 decision has occurred, they couldn’t care less.

Thats now 3 times in about 15 games that the AFL has officially apologised to the Crows for incorrect decisions essentially costing them games of football. It’s pretty clear apologies mean nothing. Actually do something about this reoccurring issue

I would’ve thought we would win this game, but once again i was wrong. Essendon definitely did do better in majority of areas for the game. But could’ve destroyed us if they kicked straight, that decision in the end of dragging the ball in was not a fair decision and we deserved to have a shot at goal. There’s always a robbery with Adelaide for some reason, if there’s one team I don’t respect and wouldn’t admit defeat too, it’s Essendon.

Was a good game, everyone says that adelaide were robbed, but there were some but essendon copped some poor decisions too. Even if, had the bombers been less wasteful infront of goal it would've been a comfortable win and all this controversy would've been avoided.

AFL conceded it should have been a free kick. Yes, Crows made costly errors. Yes, Bombers were wasteful. Yes, Crows might've missed the final kick. But a free kick 25 out with Tex taking it? I'll take those odds.

RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Lying on top of the ball like a beached whale is now ok. Unbelievable. The rule states: “Diving on top of the Football - A field Umpire shall award a free kick against a player who dives on top of or drags the football underneath their body, and fails to immediately knock clear or correctly dispose of the football…”. That’s a penalty any other time in the match. We know Adelaide had their chances, but in that moment, it was a free and should have been awarded. Draper’s shenanigans after the match tell you a lot too.

The umpires - who were on the scene when Draper dragged the ball back under him after laying on top of it - choked. It's as simple as that. They didn't want to make the big call so close to the goals, at such a crucial stage in the match. That's where the human element comes into umpiring. I don't care if you get 4 guys umpiring the match, or 40, you won't be able to eradicate human emotions. Hard luck for Adelaide - they deserved a free kick which would have given them the chance to win it......

So sick of the poor umpiring this year. It’s ruining games. Another Adelaide robbery in less than a year. Thought the new AFL administration was going to be better. An apology does nothing. They’ll blow the whistle throughout the match at 50/50 calls or what they _think_ they saw, but not a player sunbaking in front of them. Who cares if a penalty determines the match. AFL obsession with entertainment over fairness/accuracy (and umpires putting their whistles away) needs to stop
