“Closed mouths don’t get fed” is definitely one of the mindsets I’m going to adapt to in 2024. I’ve always been independent b/c I really dislike when ppl do me “favors” and throw it back in my face but this new year I’m going to start being more outspoken to the things I deserve and desire to have (when it comes to certain things). I’m worth it and I will have the abundant life God intended for me to have. If there’s something I desire/deserve, I’m going to ask questions and find the answers one way or another. I’m not taking the word “No” for an answer, period! 💯🙏🏾👏🏾

I've never heard of stylists wanting you to to be washed and blow dried for a silk press 🥴...I may as well just do the silk press myself. Also, how you blow dry your hair will determine how good the silk press turns out. I do think that braiders at a salon should at least have it as an add on. The woman who braided your hair sounds like such a kind spirit!

Yeah the products used during the wash and the blow dry will affect the results of the silk press. Only reason anyone should accept that if they literally don’t have a flat iron or physically cannot work one and the service is cheap as hell.

My hair stylist washes and conditions my hair before the silk press. It is all included in the price.

Crystal when you said you wouldn't mind moving to LA girl I laughed and thought "Once she taste that LA traffic her mind will change." I grew up in LA and now live in SF Bay Area and this west coast traffic is no joke! When you need to be somewhere you need to add an hour onto your drive time regardless what Uber, Lyft or maps tell you. If it's in the middle of the day you're ok but anything after 3:00pm add an hour.

If I'm washing and blow drying for a silk press, it better be $25.

Yup! The wash and blow out is also an important part of the results of your silk press so like girl, 100s for a silk press is crazy

AfrikanHairGod broke it down on his channel that only "Licensed Cosmetologists" can legally shampoo and blow-dry hair. I know this varies from state to state but I don't know that I want to trust my hair to someone that is not licensed. I braid my own hair but I do understand them requiring your hair to be done and ready. The reason why some braiders have that rule is because they are not licensed cosmetologists. As much some charge, shampoo and blow dry should be complimentary.

I agree that is so ghetto for a hair stylist to require your hair to be washed and conditioned when doing a silk press. That should be a part of the whole package. It's a no for me!!!

I an appreciate what you're saying about the braiders, BUT for the prices they're charging, more should be included in the services. I still go to my same braider that I've used since high school (and I GRADUATED in 1998, so our relationship has lasted longer than most marriages) and yes, she's gone up about $100 since then but she washes, conditions and deep conditions before she blows out my hair so it's ok for me. I just can't see paying double what she charges me for less services AND a bad experience with customer service. And she provides the hair too! So I'm a client til she stops braiding.

You look super GORGEOUS in your braids, momma!! Can u please comment if you’re experiencing any issues with tangling. I want to try them but not if I have to deal with that problem. I welcome your feedback as well as ur followers. 🤗. Thanks so much.
