I highly recommend listening to the ENTIRE podcast. Their conversation was insightful, amicable and respectful. It's great to see the power of social media through different perspectives. Social media is very dangerous and polarizing and this episode explains this quite well, though conduct more research, specifically on the concept of political discourse as presented by Ruth Wodak.

The same people who promote freedom of speech are the same people who cannot respect the opinions and perspectives of others. Deciding not to speak about politics is an exercise of your freedom of speech. The purpose of freedom is speech is to avoid one person or group from controlling or monopolizing the narrative. So this means each opinion is valid and must be appreciated and respected for this freedom of speech to work. However, this same principle they fervently fight for is the same principle they weaponize against those who don't agree with them. Their freedom of speech misses the crucial element of respecting other people's opinion. In the end, they become the oppressors of speech they strive hard to fight against. The best word to describe politics in the Philippines right now is "dogma", and "cancel culture" is their weapon against those who don't agree with them. Much worse, even those who don't want anything to do with politics are sideswiped in their rampage. So its either you are with them, or they condemn you. You don't have a choice. I am sorry that you became a victim of this rabid "liberalism" in the Philippines, Wil. Its just sad that the biggest traditional media and news source in the country is the machine for this. We know what your content is all about, and I know it can become increasingly hard to talk about anything when people just want to hear politics. Not just politics though, THEIR politics. But keep going, and do it for your viewers!

I listened to the podcast myself very carefully and I sensed a tone of condescension coming from Nas' questioning. I dont believe his 'video game' or 'dormant news channel' lines we're just plain, flat out replies. They clearly had intent. People can argue about what those intents were but one thing I can say is that he is passionate about he stands for. I understand why he would be frustrated.

Ewan ko lang but for me (someone who's doing debates for a living), I don't sense a tone of condescension but I sense something different. It was like he is urging him to do something different, somehow convincing him to do the same as him but anyway, it was a healthy debate between the two vloggers. The only issue here are the people who magnify the issue while in fact the two vloggers involved were quite great, really. At the end of the day, the guys are entitled to their own opinions and have the freedom to choose the content they want to showcase. Peace! Good day :)

Hi Wil! As you know my channel has a very specific niche but can be highly politicized if I chose to. But as I don't particularly enjoy negativity, then politics will never have a place in my channel. The thing with political discussions is, there's no right answer. Each side will never agree to whatever agenda so in the end it all boils down to negativity, hypocrisy and grandstanding. Bottomline is, I choose whatever content I put in my channel. No one can dictate what I should or should not do. If certain people don't like my content, that's fine with me. If they hate my content so strongly that they make an effort to talk $hit in my comments section, I tell them to go frack themselves. Then I wait a few seconds just to make sure my reply appears in their notifications, and then block them from my channel. With any luck, they might suffer a stroke out of frustration because they can no longer reply. Carry on brother. You're ok in my book. 😎

Most yellows are the ones that are reacting that way, it's their domain. Mostly are rich and from catholic schools, I know because there were moments that I tweet and engage on the comments section and most of them just will tarnish your reputation if you believe in something that they don't.

Even in social gatherings/inuman, it's a rule never to bring up politics or religion because it will be a never ending discussion/debate. I found it funny that the people who bash you forgot that your channel isnt about current events like what Nas' content is. Yours has been about life and having fun. There's too much going on in the world and in PH alone right now that we need a bit of positivity even for 10-15 mins. Im not sure what happened to people but almost everyone became self-righteous. OG tweeters have left that platform for that very reason.

So now they're looking to pass the blame on others who are just here on the business of entertainment, and for good reason, because not everyone should be obligated to push a political agenda. And even if they were obligated, there is a proper platform for that.

I actually defended Kuya Wil on this certain aspect, I said nga on my Twitter the reason why Kuya Wil does not want to talk politics is to keep us viewers safe, mostly we're in a midst of a pandemic. A youtubers goal is to entertain us and Kuya Wil does just that. To Kuya Wil maraming salamat sa pagmamahal at pag motivate sa atin lahat.

I am with you Will. 100%. I stopped watching Nas' vlogs because he became very political. I like watching your vlogs because I just want to feel good and be entertained. Please do no be political.

I do love politics and very opinionated when it comes to that. But the moment a vlogger that I followed talks about politics I immediately unfollow them. I agree but for the part about unfollowing. Even I don't watch every single video of those I follow. We have the choice to curate their playlist and watch what we want to. If I'm not into the video topic, i can choose not to watch. I won't unfollow because of one video. Besides many content creators try and innovate and do different things. Thats what makes them appealing. Unlike corporate brands with rigid and established brands, content creators can make changes and experiment as they see fit.

people come to vlogs because they want to have fun... if they wanted politics they would just be watching the news

I’ve watched almost all of your vlogs since I became a fan and the moment that issue rises, I didn’t doubt u for a second. Your vlog taught me a lot as an individual and I never see u as someone who uses this channel just to gain money. Indeed, you might not often talk about politics but I know you still care and there are underlying messages in your vlogs that gives awareness in poverty and stuff like that - which made us more aware of the leaders we should vote. You opened windows, Will. You showed us the reality in your vlogs. It’s up to us viewers how to use it for a change in the government or in the Philippines specifically .

Okay. I didn’t hear the podcast? But when Wil talked bout his statement him saying bout Golden Rule of not talking bout politics cause it will dismay a huge group of people, hate to break it to ya fellow Pinoys but he’s spitting facts. We live in a country where a decent conversation bout politics can’t even be carried out peacefully, it’s just a matter of exchanging opinions but Pinoys tend to cancel u directly when ur opinion isn’t inclined with theirs, mostly don’t even give u a chance to explain, let’s just say, “narrow-minded”, as if they know everything even but they don’t, the ones who have these big mouths on cancelling u r the ones who know infos only from social medias, so..... And for the ones who are into vloggers and youtubers here, me as myself speaking as i watch and subscribe to youtubers where their content makes sense cause I pick only the ones whom I feel are not faking it, “pure” content if u must say, I learned all youtubers have the right to pick only what kind of content they make, it’s really up to them. Like am i the only one who finds the issue not “issueable”?! If that’s a word hahaha Like people, ik wer on quarantine, we stay at home mostly now but keep that sanity in u, don’t make petty things such big deals. And one last thing, Wil, as long I’m subscribed to u, it means, i find ur content senseful and meaningful, u even post stories bout people on how their journey is, u even talk bout “life” in general. Problem with the dds. Opinion lang nila ang mahalaga. Kapag hindi nila gusto ang opinion mo. Tatawagin kang 1.tanga 2.bobo 3.wala sa tono 4.mamatay kana 5.ma rape ka sana At marami pa silang masasamang salita na sasabihin Unlike sa dilawan kahit punahin mo mga pagkakamali nila walang mg reply sa comment mo ng hate comments. Kapag hindi ok ang action at sinabi ni VP or Kiko pinupuna ko. Wala pa naman ngrereply sakin kht isa.

BUT WIL, THIS IS WHAT I learnt from school when I was in college... if you're a public figure one of the 3 golden rules not to talk about on stage/in public are POLITICS, GENDER AND RELIGION. This is why CONTEXT matters. This is what happened to Pewdiepie a few years back, when Main Stream Media kept attacking him by misquouting and splicing his statements because he had a different opinion on certain issues.
