WELCOME BACK WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!!!!
Thanks man, appreciate the video!
Excellent Content. How have I not stumbled upon this channel in over a year of learning Logic Pro?
You're awesome
THANK YOU
Hello sir, can I get a solo guitar plugin?
Great video man! No offence, and you might of heard this before, but all i could think the first time i watched it was you sound so much like "Gene Belcher" from Bobs Burgers. Like i said no offence but it fits with you talking about synths 🤣
Isn't it strange that this wasn't the default synthesis used in most synthesizers from the get go? Does it not sound as good as FM etc.

Just speculating, but I think additive wasn’t feasible until the arrival of stable digital oscillators that could hold their tuning. The Synclavier was an early additive synth and perhaps shows the direction synthesis could have gone.

I think it’s mostly for practical reasons. Hammond organs are a good example of hardware additive synths. They’re definitely beloved, but they’re also big and expensive. The DX7 was comparatively cheaper and smaller when released, making it much easier to take on the road. So it was easier to go FM (and FM had the wow factor of being newer). For virtual synths, part of it comes down to CPU. An additive synth vst needs to be clever with how it generates all those sounds. Otherwise it can get really bulky really fast. Thankfully there are plenty of smart programmers who are making it work!

Additive synths are simply harder and more time consuming to get nice timbres out of most of the time, and they're certainly less flexible unless they have hundreds of partials (which just makes them harder to program)
