Adders & Hedgehog
Out up The Cheviots today and as usual lots of adders but then came across a hedgehog. It is not usually a good sign to see them out in the day but this fella looked healthy and was a good size. He headed to a stream and had a good old drink so hopefully, all was well and he was just thirsty

Mick, fantastic to see those adders, such an alien and beautiful sight as we have no snakes here in Ireland (after St. Patrick drove them all out😊). The hedgehog definitely looked healthy and what a cool sight🦔👍

Cheers Gerry A good year for adders up there, loads of them, they have put up signs warning dog owners to watch out for them. I did contemplate getting the hedgehog to help as it's unusual to see them out in the day and is usually a sign they are unwell. I know a guy who runs a wildlife rescue charity and they would've helped it but it didn't look underweight and was moving well as it headed straight to the stream so I hope he was just thirsty as it was very warm. I didn't like to move him away from here and it would have meant an hour in a warm car so thought best to leave him to it and hope for the best.
Hi Mick, I've not seen your uploads but so good to catch up - wow how fascinating that adder. It was on the hunt at one point. As for the Hedgehog there are few left - it's really sad. We love em - convert all gardens into Hedgehog friendly zones I say. Well, I hope you're well. Have a great week ahead. Mark
