    Another well done video, very thorough. Thank you Ryan. Organizing my materials and HDRIs is a top priority. I feel like there might be a need to share your thoughts on workflow and best practices, like for a small at-home studio or workspace. How would you recommend people store their assets? The advantages and/or disadvantages of assets on network attached storage. What are some tried and true folder structures for digital assets? Topics like that might be helpful.     do you have to save an entire blend file just to be able to have textures in the asset library? can you just like download the textures and thats it without downloading an entire save file?

    Yes, it should always update to new versions now that its an added feature.

    Not that I know of. you could add a texture into a blank material, and then save that as an asset, but I don't think you can save textures on there own as assets.

    @@RyanKingArt Glad you liked the idea. I wanna create somewhat realistic materials for gemstones in order to create assets for games I might wanna make, such as a jade dragon or a diamond ring. The problem I have is the fact the tutorials I can find for creating some of the materials is for versions older than 3.0 and I don't have money for addons that need to be purchased

    Omg thank you so much! I've done something wrong, objects I apply the texture to turn pink as if they are missing something, did I save the asset wrong?

    Hmm, sounds like Blender doesn't know where the texture data is. If you moved the blender file, or moved the textures, that can happen. I made a video on this problem. you can watch it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dZyb0amrabmTpMY.html

    Useful tips .. have you (or anyone else) found any way to auto build an asset library from a directory of textures? This process is manually intensive and a bit time consuming. I'd be happy to have it auto generate asests that I could sort into folders.

    There is a free plugin called "AssetLibraryTools" that can do it, it not being updated anymore but worked for me as of blender 3.5. The creator of the plugin has some videoes about it.

    Hi there, what if the zip file doesnt have a color file? I only see AO, bump, disp, normal, spec, but not the color. And when I applied it, the texture is still gray even if I was on viewport shading. The files for the textures I downloaded are also from Polyhaven.

    Whats the name of the texture that you downloaded? All of the textures should have a color map.

    the auto save preferences is turned on on default, but I turned the auto save off, because I like manual control.

    You can use those maps if you want. but usually I only need color, normal, and roughness.

    The title is misleading. I was looking for information on how to save only the textures, not the materials. Unfortunately it's not possible to create textures assets, only the material assets. Then, there's no way to have a collection of alpha textures in the asset browser, for example.

    hmm, did you move the texture to a different location on your computer? That would cause it to loose the file data.

    It would be better to say how to add Materials and HDRI World to Asset Browser, because it misleads like we just add textures as image files or HDRIs as image files as well.

    If anyone is looking to see if you can add individual textures (as in a single image) you're not going to find that information here. Say you had a bunch of images to use as overlays like fingerprints or scratches and you wanted to add those to the browser, this video isn't how to do it.

    Well you could add a material, and then just place a single image texture in that materials nodes, and then add it as an asset.
