Add Clarity to Photos in GIMP, No Photoshop/Lightroom Needed
The Clarity slider is a popular feature in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Affinity Photo, but can it be recreated in GIMP? In this tutorial, I show you how to emulate the effects of the clarity slider using free plugins. This is a quick and easy technique for making the details of your image pop!

Hi, DMD I've been watching your videos now, and they've greatly improved my use of GIMP, Thank you. Video suggestion: How could we make realistically looks puddles on a road (image) in GIMP

This is definitely on my To-Do list! Thanks for checking out the videos.
👍👏
Perhaps you have a better recommendation for me but I had been using the Clarity setting for a very different use case. Reducing Clarity to fix skin tone blemishes. What I found was that I could reduce the clarity and give subjects a beautiful blurred skin effect using Camera Raw Clarity (removing pock marks or black heads) and then super impose that image over the original and then bring back the detail for everything but the face/arms etc... I hadn't realized that Clarity affected contrast as you mention, so now I have another reason to visit the feature but I wonder how you might tackle what I had been doing?
Thanks for the video. In the video the mode of the layer Local Contrast is set to Normal. It does not work for me (Win11 Gimp 2.10.34). It only works when I set the mode of the layer to Screen. Is that correct?
Can this be used with Mac? if it can do you have a video showing how to instal it?

Yes and yes How to Install G'MIC Plugin for GIMP for MAC kzread.info/dash/bejne/aImHqrijadPfmKw.html
Thx, I will try script soon If every object, layer was seperate. The same effect can be done with Gimp default tools? I do more hand painting. Layer by layer I just starting to paint with patterns, decals etc again. Because my hand painting was so horrible, I went back to basics to improve. I guess the masks could be used to improve patterned images better also.
This video's Audio not support why?

Can't download G'mic to my apple computer, otherwise I'd have learned a lot.
When you tell us that adobe's softwares are "premium" are you implying that Gimp is "low-class" software?

My interpretation would be that "premium priced" is meant, which is to say "expensive".
