Adam Savage's One Day Builds: Baby Yoda Mod and Repaint!

Ғылым және технология

Adam is smitten by Sideshow Collectible's life-size replica of The Child (aka Baby Yoda, aka Grogu), and makes the figure even more awesome by modifying it to add posable arms and applying more weathering to the cloak! Follow along this deconstruction of collectible manufacturing and paint application. This project also allows Adam to test Iwata's dual action airbrush, which has been highly recommended in the effects shops we've visited!

"Am I even allowed to show that?" Adam, it's a model of a fictional character. Yes, I realize there are some who would kick up a fuss, but they need to get a dose of reality. It's a model, not a real child.

@John Lawson The Mandalorian is set 5 years after Return Of The Jedi. In ROTJ Yoda says "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not" so we think Yoda was 900 when he died 5 years before The Mandalorian is set. The Child (the correct name, as he is not Yoda, and Yoda is not the species name) is said to be about 50 years old, a baby in his species time frame.

That color on the cloth really brings the whole piece to life. One could even tatter the edges of the bottom a bit with a knife sharpener or wear certain places with heavy sandpaper. Btw: love the horror music! 😆

When I started my career as an airframe and powerplant technician (airplane mechanic) I always took note of what tools I was borrowing most and which ones did the best job. As I went along and built up my collection, I would buy those tools that made my job easier. Tools such as the Gearwrench sold by Sears were an absolute joy to use.
