In 2018 Dressel broke the NCAA and American records in the SCY 100 breaststroke with a 50.03. He's a breaststroker.

@@bobolson7610 he’s not a breaststroker he’s a flyer and sprinter the only reason he set that record is because he is insanely good at underwaters in any stroke so he excels in ncaa’s where it’s 25 yard pools so he can do his pullout until 15 yards every lap he is very good at scy breaststroke but he is not a breaststroker

@@bobolson7610 Yes but he's explicitly said that he's not a breaststroker (watch his dressel dissect of that race). The other dude said it perfectly, the only reason he got that record was because of his insane start and underwaters in a 25y pool, but his actual breaststroke swimming isn't actually world-class. Ofc he's still goated for going that fast, but there's a reason he doesn't swim breaststroke in international competition.

It's crazy how Peaty gets destroyed in the turns and start but he is so fast he tracks them down, even in short course. If he improves that weakness his records will be certainly unbeatable for a long time

I know, Dressel is killing him on the start and wall. Peaty is just the fastest breast stroker in the water. Which makes him even scarier over a 100. Imagine what he would do to the field from a wall push.

  • @swimmingguy6189

Not a stupid question! Skins is a new ISL race. The swimmers swim 3 50s with short breaks in between. The winner of the 100 medley relay picks what stroke the 3 50s are. For this meet, the winner picked breaststroke. So the race is breast skins.

He is the fast butterfly/freestyle specialist and uses the breaststroke for the IM. Reminds me of Phealps but for shorter/faster (100m) distances. I have not seen many breastrokers break into the other strokes as well as he did today.
