    @@jacquelinerussell8530 I have also been watching the Olympics for over half a century and some gold medals are nailed on. The 400IM isn't an event in which champions come from nowhere because of the skillset required to compete and McIntosh is a long way ahead of any competitors.

    Watching a one-in-a-million athlete! Wow!. Reminds me of "Secretariat" who was unbeatable. ( Not comparing Ms. MsIntosh to a horse, but the comparison is meant to illuminate the RARITY of special athletes.)

    No. And setting such pointlessly unrealistic expectations will make whatever she does - which will be incredible- seem like a disappointment. She has massive competition in everything except this event - it’s possible she comes away with ‘only’ one gold.

    @Ineddiblehulk I'd be very surprised if she didn't win the 200 fly and mildly surprised if she didn't win the 200 IM. But hopefully she'll swim loose and be at her best. I really wish we had more depth so she could skip the relays entirely to be fresh in the individual events.

    you're just wrong. The main expert commentator has been doing this for years and knows his stuff. He spoke quickly (as needed) and knowledgeably through the whole race.

    she literally just dropped a second off her old time.. not saying that's not an accomplishment but it's not THAT much off her original time to accuse her of doping. her mom was literally an olympian as well and she's a naturally skilled swimmer.

    Il cronometro ha sentenziato! io non lo so se sia proprio così forte, qui non credo siano in campo internazionale ma nazionale, giusto? (cosa sono? i trials?) Ma è certo che è arrivata quasi 15 secondi prima della seconda classificata! E queste cose le facevano solo Phelps e pochissimi altri, due o tre tra donne e uomini! Ma è soprattutto la facilità di nuotata a sbalordire: non credo di aver mai visto un delfino, Butterfly, tanto fluido, nuotato con assurda facilità e naturalezza, il bacino non fa uno schizzo, segue sinuoso le spalle, non sembra umana, ma davvero un tursiope, splendida!; un dorso filante e senza sforzo apparente; una rana, Breaststroke, praticamente senza fare onda! Si infila sott'acqua e ne esce due metri avanti! Lo stile libero forse resta la frazione in cui si potrebbe pensare di attaccarla... ma da quello che ho visto qui, almeno che non incappi in qualche infortunio o peggio, risulti dopata, ( e di certo mi auguro di no perché è dolcissima e umile), credo sia improbabile che da qui a 3 mesi? 2 mesi e mezzo? ...qualcuno possa tenerle testa fino alla frazione a stile freeStyle: la facilità con cui nuota la specialità... farebbe annichilire anche la signora di ferro, Katinka Ostzu, per anni al vertice della distanza.
