Adam And The Ants - Stand And Deliver Reaction

In this video we're listening to one more from Adam And The Ants. We enjoyed a couple of songs from this group in the early 80's, when we were kids, and more on this channel. We're really excited to hear more from them. Enjoy!

Great reaction yet again. Adam and The Ants started out as a Punk band so quite a few of their songs have political or societal messages in the lyrics. Their earlier stuff is quite different, check out, 'Lady' by them.

The video is symptomatic of early 80s videos in the UK,especially the new romantics (even though Ant was new wave/pop). Loads of costumes, shot on video, not film, and casts of (almost) 1000s 😁

New Wave is an almost meaningless term because it encompasses so many bands and styles. It is not really a genre, Here in the UK most bands considered new wave in America were not categorised as such.

  • @groove2519

Never knew the lyrics! I could be wrong, but I think it's just a silly celebration of style for style's sake. Go for it. Have fun. Embrace your better impulses. If you're not ready to sack up and put on a good show, when will you be ready? It's fully mocking the status quo, but for no deep purpose. It's kind of punk, but with a slightly fey attitude about it. In that sense, it seems to have a lot in common with the later single, Prince Charming. Where that song offers approval and reassurance for risks taken, this one chides anyone who's chosen the safer path. What are you waiting for? Stand and deliver!

Adam And The Ants were very big in Australia in 1981 and Adam Ant didn't do too badly in 1982. At least two # 1 singles if my memory serves me correctly. I became an ''antperson'' almost overnight in 1981 when ''Antmusic'' suddenly topped our national charts. I had Ant posters on my wall, and me and fellow Countdown kids did our very best to look like our new hero. When Adam And The Ants came to Australia in 1981, we all parked ourselves at the Festival Hall, and I had a little sword fight with my bestfriend Kim. We also saw Adam And The Ants perform 'Antmusic' in the Countdown studio. I know a few of us are being very specific on which videos we want you guys to watch. We also want good sound and picture quality coming from your reactions. There are alternative uploads that offer a superior experience. Take note of the request below. Hi C and C , looks like Im the first to react . after the Supertramp tune we were out the door helping a friend move . any ways always thought Adam and the Ants were a breath of Fresh Air . Certainly the music was proper fun . Much has been written about the new Romantics and the "Blitz , the Club that Steve Strange owned ,probably one of the last Original music Genres for a long time . IMO . Also post" Punk" gave the reason to dress in a way that was creative and Historical in a loose way (Fun ) rather than going to a Club or Music venue dressed like a car crash ! which can take as long to do as going out dressed as a Pirate ! In this Video there is a Nod to the Post War teenage movement known as the " Rockers " Lads and Girls , racing around on British Motorcycles to Transport Cafe to other Transport Cafes ! They were open all night . Hence the term "Cafe Racers " was used as a negative term . The Clobber to wear was a Lewis Leather Jacket or an RAF Flying Jacket called an Irving , whith as many badges and studs as poss, 501 Levis Jeans , Engineering Boots or old RAF Flying Boots ,and of course the Silk Scarf . Great fun Video , the tune is catchy " Ididaly Qua Qua " cheers

Adam and the ants started off really edgy and really unique songs like Dirk wears white socks , Kings if the wild frontier etc … but they became pop stars / teeny boppers around the time if this track and culminated in the appalling Prince Char-ming!!! Which I hated … imho Ant music was their apogee and it was all downhill after that sadly . A good thing in my opinion that the cheesy video clip had to be blurred, as it doesn't do this otherwise fantastic song any favours. Adam & the Ants are a bit like Rush to me, in regards to their singer's voice not being the absolute greatest but me still loving their songs (and for 43 years now! 😀) By the way, 'Goody Two Shoes' is Adam Ant solo and *not* together with the Ants! And that distinction is important to me because I can't staaand that gawd-awful song! The lamest Adam & the Ants song is still better than that! 😅 'Ants Invasion' and 'Killer In The Home' are two of my favourites, though 😊
