I love Adam and the Ants. Adam was huge in the early 80s. The A sides were fun, while the B sides were more punk. Thank you for reacting to such varied artists.

NO joke, Michael Jackson asked Stuart Goddard aka Adam Ant about the Burundi Beat his band made famous, and later asked about Adam' Milutary Admiral type Jacket , Michael would soon use, Michael also wrote They don't care about us, with the Tom Tom Burundi type beat. Prince loved Adam's Swagger and said in the Early days he and his early group would sing Adam's ANT RAP to get them ready for their shows.Adam's a legend.

Out of all "reaction" videos I've watched about Adam Ant, The Cure, and others, this was definitely the most fun to watch! He certainly chose a good representation of many of Adam's songs. People have to remember that 40 years ago (Stand and Deliver came out in 81), this was all ground breaking stuff. Making mini movies v videos just standing there singing with the band, fashion and makeup trends being established by men, etc. was all very new back then and pushed many boundaries. I still go to see Adam Ant whenever he's in Las Vegas and he still sounds and looks amazing! 🐜❤️

Love me some Adam Ant. Saw him live in 2018 and it was such a fun show. He had a lot of mental health issues in the late 90s (he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after his tour for the "Wonderful" album), but he's been able to work through it and get back to music.

Can we just talk about how pretty Adam Ant was? This was back in my day and though I really liked "Ant Music", I was more into New Order, XTC, The Beatles (before my time, but still worship them), Gang of Four, Echo and the Bunnymen and the list goes on. These videos bring back those fun, crazy, 80's times.

In the early very early 80s, music videos were in their infancy, not all record companies were convinced videos were going to be a thing, so the budgets, for the most part, were tiny. However, it did mean that music artists and directors had more artistic freedom to create the videos. To some music artists it was obvious that visuals were becoming as important as the song. Adam Ant was one of these people and he created an image and persona that was cinematic and theatrical, he was huge in the UK from 1980-83. MTV first aired in the UK in 1987, so he was ahead of his time really. Adam said that the war stripe across his nose was a declaration of war on all the kind of nonsense in the music business and the political stuff that he didn't like.

I have always loved Adam, his early stuff like Ant Music are my favorite. I forget how pretty Adam is and everytime I see these videos I am nicely reminded. I tend to talk to the scree and during Strip when you said he put on more clothes, I said "just wait" and then ... LOL. I think his work is rabbit hole worthy. I would enjoy watching you critique the Met Gala, you would most likely fi a better and more honest job than all the people who do it on air.

Adam's 'Strip' album was produced in Stockholm, Sweden and Phil Collins played the drums on the title track and another song called 'Puss 'n Boots.' Phil had worked on Frida from ABBA's 1982 solo album and asked Frida to do the female vocals on 'Strip,' so that's her seductive voice you can hear (I love the way she says 'clothes').

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, hooray for Adam Ant. Adam and The Ants were one of the many New Romantic bands to come out of Great Britain in the early 80's. Back when men wearing makeup was scandalous and lurid, they had fun with it. I saw Adam Ant in concert in 1984 when the Strip album came out, and it was so much fun. I was certain he was singing to me, a 15 year old skinny girl, when he sang Strip during the show. I mean after all, he made eye contact! That had to mean something! It's funny that you commented on him winning every Halloween contest out there, I dressed up as him in the Prince Charming video for Halloween one year; probably my favorite costume of all time. His autobiography is very interesting, he talks about how his music and some aspects of his look were influenced by both African and Native American culture. Thank you for this fun trip down memory lane, and if you don't do a critique of the Met Gala I will be really really disappointed!

Good grief. Listen... I bought a few of Adam and the Ants records, still have them. But oh boy they are a relic of their time ! Lol. I remember the marketing for this band was GOOD. I was slightly obsessed with them to the point that aged 10 I demanded I owned the clear shiny Adam and the Ants nail varnish. No one batted an eyelid at his costumes or persona at the time. It was just post-punk UK. That's my insight of this time in my life !

As a kid growing up with a “new thing” called MTV, this was heaven, pure heaven! Before that, we had music shows like Video One with Richard Blade and of course shows like American Bandstand and Soul Train but music videos were a whole new uncharted world to be thoroughly explored. Videos went from promo vids of the bands singing on stage to then full out mini-movies. It was an amazing time. I’m so glad I was able to experience that. 🥰. Quick note if it hasn’t been mentioned before but Adam Ant wrote these songs with Marco Pirroni (the guitarist), developed the costumes, musical arrangements and video concepts for all his music and videos. Fantastic, just fantastic!

OMG ! I was 13 years old when this album came out. I got caught up in the "Ant Invasion" and did adapt to some of the "Cavaliers Fashions" - inspired by the 17th century. I remember purchasing a black, with red trimmed , three pointed hat.(cost $7.) I also found a thrifted short 70's cape( cost $3.00) to complete my outfit. It was fashionable in the 80's. I loved Adam and the Ants back in the day, but I don't remember Strip. I think there's a good reason for that 😆 The previous 3 songs were brilliant, though. I loved how he played with the different ideas of what a man should be like, and the ideas of gender fluidity (especially in Prince Charming). That was new to mainstream entertainment back in the '80s. Look at Adam Ant's lyrics to Goody Two Shoes: Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do? Subtle innuendos follow Must be something inside No one's gonna tell me What's wrong and what's right Or tell me who to eat with, sleep with Or that I've won the big fight, big fight

I adamantly feel that watching Adam Ant videos has given you a mild case of strip(t) throat. :-) Fun videos and reactions. At the end of the 1981 "Prince Chaming" video, Adam Ant dresses up as actor Clint Eastwood in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," rock singer Alice Cooper, who also has an affinity for guy-liner ("School's Out for Summer," "You and Me," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "I Never Cry"), and 1920s silent film actor and major heart throb Rudolph Valentino in "The Sheik." The middle-aged buxom blonde fairy godmother to his Cinderfella is British actress Diana Dors, who was England's answer to Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield decades earlier back in the 1950s-60s. (Diana Dors was also once married to actor-talk show host Richard Dawson of "Hogan's Heroes" and "Family Feud" fame.) I always thought Adam Ant was very handsome, too, but he never took himself so seriously.

Always wondered where he got the idea of doing Rudolph Valentino from-Clint Eastwood & Alice Cooper were current in 1982, Valentino hadn't been a big deal for 60 odd years at that point. Diana Dors also seems an odd choice since her career had been in total free-fall for years.

Please react to Jennifer Rush’s Power of Love Music video from 1985 which she had Co-wrote. It was in the Guinness Book of World Records as "the best-selling single by a female solo artist in the history of the British music industry." "The Power of Love" held that status until 1992, when it was outsold by Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You."

You kind of need to know som3 British history and the ancient class struggle to understand what is going on in the videos. The romantic clothing was actually the style in the past. Men known as (dandies) would wear these fashions. And England has cycled through many many fashions.

Mr Pancake did you know there were Christmas decorations behind you? I find Strip video interesting , because in those days they wore alot of under clothes and it would take 1/2 a day to strip.

Adam got quite badly cut-up when he went through that window. The look on his face is one of agony.
