My man, you’s truly a king when it comes to old school subways. Coney Island pre early-mid 2000s renovation.

Boy this video takes me back. Like a prehistoric age on the subway. Pre renovation of the station, when the B ran the West End and the D ran on the Brighton Line. When R46’s ran on the F and R40’s were abundant.

I remember when Coney Island / Stillwell Ave still looked like this. Trains going in and out weren't as noisy as the "newer" station is today. The newer station is inclosed with a trainshed, has open deck trackways. (tracks at this station feature full length ties resting on steel girders with jointed rail, instead of a concrete slab and "ladder tracks") Trains entering and leaving this station make a lot more noise like ordinary elevated lines do. The original Stillwell Ave Station was basically an "elevated" solid concrete slab with the subway tracks on top of that and you could still see the sea from that station. good times.

Wow, hadn't seen this since I last visited the Coney Island area in 1980, I'd also seen it in 1975 and 1977, this station was still like it was in 1920 only in poor shape. Looks much better now. And back then D line is running past Sheepshead Bay on the Brighton line like the Q does today.

Something we’ll probably never get back but hopefully the system can improve and expand to something we never still seen before. I really just don’t want a full teched out system.

"This must've been a weekend" not a weekend. the date on this video says "8/5/1996". August 5, 1996 was a Monday "during the weekdays the (M) wud terminate" The M havent terminated at Stillwell Avenue since it switched from the Brighton line to the West End line in 1986 (except for the brief period after 9/11 when it temporary replaced the N on the Sea Beach line due to said event).
