    My wife and I attempted our first acrylic pour over the weekend and I have to say, Caren you make it look easy! Things I learned; 1. Mix larger batches of paint, 2. Always save some paint for corrections, 3. Don't try and fix problem areas with fingers (use extra paint), and 4. Let the painting fully dry (touched a painting and we now have fresh finger prints in the painting). *As a bonus tip I found out that turning a wooden canvas upside down and pouring into the backside (using the frames border to stop the paint) turned out to be 95% less messy, and the end result is an already framed painting. Thanks for sharing this technique!

  • @ElizabethKilbride
    @ElizabethKilbride7 жыл бұрын

    Absolutely beautiful. Question, what is the difference between using the silicone versus using pouring medium? I've never used the silicone before as I'm just starting to get into dirty pours (which I love by the way so much fun). Hopefully you can answer this question, or if anyone else can I'd very much appreciate the knowledge.

  • @carengoodrich

    @carengoodrich

    7 жыл бұрын

    My advice for doing larger canvases is to have a mental picture of what you want to accomplish on a large scale, then practice it small first. Try out color combinations and decide what technique you are going to use by doing it small. Then when you go big, you will be familiar with what you are doing and have a better chance at success. Also keep track of how much paint you used so you can multiply it for the larger pour. Yes you can pour in sections.

    Trudi Voss I recently launched my own line of paint called Happy Medium Paint Ready To Pour. Www.happymedium.fun I was using it in this video but it was still in the testing stages at the time. Happy Medium has paint, pouring medium, silicone, and water in it so it is totally ready to pour right out of the bottle. Pour paintings don’t dry glossy, so I apply Minwax Polycrylic Gloss as a top coat after the painting has dried.

    Hi Caren, LOVE your work. I would like to make a suggestion. You post the dried art on Instagram but could you also post it here in the comment section. Not all of us are computer savy :-)

    Good idea--but I don't see a way to post a photo in the comments unless I'm missing something.

    I only wish you'd show the afters in your videos. I totally get trying to make people go to your instagram page, but it's annoying and the link doesn't go to the painting. After taking a few minutes to scroll through so many images there I still didn't see the finished product on this painting nor of the painting in the last video I saw of yours. I won't be clicking over again to try to find more of your afters, but I do like your videos and appreciate them. I think it's better to allow people to click to find out more about you if they want to, rather than to irritate them by taking up more of their time to try to see something they end up not finding in short order. We all have issues with not enough time in our days, so annoying people by taking more of it is not a good way to leave a lasting pleasant impression of yourself to others - that's my experience anyway. Others may feel differently, but that's how it lands for me. Thank you again for the videos though. You do beautiful work.

    My videos are about the process, and the dry painting doesn't look any different than it does at the end of the video. Waiting for it to dry and editing in another clip of the dry version is not something I am going to be doing except in certain circumstances. I shoot videos and post them on the same day--way before the painting is dry. But recently KZread has made the availability to post images and written posts in the Community section. It's a blog like format. So I will be posting some of the dry images there.

    Hi Caren, I am loving this technique. What colors did you use for the sand please?

    I have the colors listed in the description below the video...the sand colors were Sun Gold and Royal Gold, both made by Nova Color.
