I know about pigments, but I didn't realize how different the same color is from brand to brand. Most paints have the pigment name listed, such as PBK7, which is Lamp Black.

Exactly what I needed to know... thank you! I was painting these darn apples for class and everything was going surprising well... then I arrived at the green apple and it all fell apart because of muddy paint mixes. I think I will try again tomorrow, with a little more confidence.

I've tried to make moss green & sage. First time I made moss green, it turned out to my satisfaction. Second time, not so much. I kept adding color, so now I have this beautiful blue color. I've only mixed once for sage & I like it. Next time, I will have your knowledge to help mae. Thank you. I love mixing color!
