ACLS Megacode Scenario 2: Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest - CPR and AED

This is the second ACLS megacode scenario in the "Megacode Series" by Health Ed Solutions and it will cover Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA): CPR and AED. The megacode scenarios are intended to test your ability to put your algorithm knowledge to work. For each megacode simulator, there will be a scenario and you will have to identify rhythms, prescribe treatments, and recommend the next steps to properly provide optimal care for the patient. Rationales are included with the correct answers to support each clinical decision. This megacode scenario is up-to-date with the latest 2020 / 2021 ILCOR and AHA (American Heart Association) guidelines.
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more lessons in our Megacode Series. We will be offering an entire free series of practice megacode simulators covering ACLS, PALS, NRP, and BLS scenarios - all up-to-date with the latest 2020 AHA / ILCOR guidelines and peer-reviewed by the Health Ed Solutions medical review board for clinical accuracy.

New 2020 update on Atropine sulfate is 1mg IV every 3 to 5 minutes as needed. Not to exceed total dose of 0.04mg/kg (total of 3mg). Love these mega code scenarios they are very helpful! Thanks

Yes, as less than 1mg could potentially lower HR. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6191296/

Question: I thought new research has shown that we don't need to do respirations manually anymore, and you can still do CPR with q2min pulse checks until you get your hands on a oxygen mask-bag? Please correct me if I'm wrong?

New update to 2020 ACLS: 1 breath with BVM should be given 1 every 6 seconds.
