Hack, I couldn't wait for this album to come out. Man, I got it home, played it, I was like oh man, this sucks! But after playing it for a few more times and taking in those guitar solo's, I was like, man this sucks!
Always sad Hack when one of your heroes puts out something that's inferior to expectations. Sad but true. Take care Maybe hype sometimes kills expectations
First honest review I've seen.
Very sincere & fair review, thanks 😊 The video for cherry medicine is almost as embarrassing as the video for Simmons covering Firestarter, & that's a high bar!!!
Ace will be 73 in April. He’s an old man now. You just have to accept that. His best days have gone by. It is what it is. The album is not that bad. I enjoy some of the songs.
Good review bro
Thank you, for your opinion and review. Ace Frehley’s,’10,000 Volts’, release is Cool, hot, fun, and rockin’!! Love it !! 🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁

Thx. Hack a lot for review. I only know title song so far. Played it like 5x. It’s fair at best. Imo. I’ll eventually hear the entire thing 👍💯

Check out fightin for life
I agree 100% with your review. The guitar solos in particular were atrocious. At 72 I don't expect Ace to rip at warp speed. But these solos aren't close to melodic. Like u said just a string of 50 year old licks done poorly.
Best Ace album ever! More melodic than his previous releases! Yet still hard with great guitar work! Ace’s voice never sounded better! Hope he keeps working with Steve Brown!
100% agree Hack! Disappointing album.
Yea, I just listened to it, & like you I was disappointed for sure. I was hoping this was going to be a great album. It is not unfortunately. 😢😢
With all the hype and collaboration with Steve Brown my expectations were high. Unfortunately, don’t believe the hype rang true. Great production but sub par songs. Pales in comparison to Anomaly’s heaviness and for god sake let the drummer loose
I can no longer Hack Ace anymore, his voice even at his best is only meant to be taken in small doses. Worst of all my guitar hero's playing is now reduced to a beginner kid at guitar center , it's sad and embarrising, if you don't believe me check out Ace on Shred with Shifty (or any live clip for that matter) where he tries to play the shock me solo and it's a complete trainwreck! I don't agree with Paul and Gene on alot of things but they were right about Ace and Peter not being able to play anymore. Pauls voice is shot too, that's a whole other story..lol

I can’t imagine how bad this stuff will sound when he attempts to play it live. I’m not even sure how much he plays on this album.
I honestly don't get the hate for this album from some people. It's an Ace album. Lyrics are never going to be great - simple, at best, towards downright corny. The vocals are never going to be great. I really think overall the album is better than Spaceman. I really like 10,000 volts, Cosmic Heart, Fightin' for Life, Blinded, Up in The Sky, and Stratosphere. Constantly Cute has stupid lyrics but the tune is good. Cherry Medicine is different but really catchy chorus. The guy is in his 70s. How many stars from this era are still putting out stuff as good as back in the day? There is very little from artists his age I'd listen to more than once or twice. People need to face the fact we are never going to see another '78 solo album, just like we'll never see songs from McCartney, Jagger, Richards, Stanley, Simmons, which match the stuff in their heyday.
I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would. His last couple of albums I would play for a few days and now only losten to a couple of tracks here and there, but I had the new one playing all day yesterday and was enjoying it more with each listen. I guess I had bery low expectations for this and figured it would be Ace guesting on a Steve Brown record much like he did on Tod Howarth's Second Sighting, but, I think this is a fun listen. Yeah the solos are meh, and I doubt I'd bother to go see him live ever again. I predict a few of these tunes will sneak on to an Ace playlist and live on in my rotation more than the last couple of albums.
The album is ok at best. The lyrics are comical. It's still better than anything Kiss has put out in 45 years - though the bar is extremely low.
I’ve listened to the tracks, and I am just not feeling it
Maybe 5 guitar licks... maybe - 10 licks is too generous - Some guitar solos don't fit the songs
I feel Hack's pain reviewing this album. It sounds like Steve Brown did a great job engineering/ producing / co-writing, but Ace was simply vocally and as a guitar player, was not up to it.
I’ve been a fan or over 40 years, but this album is absolutely dreadful. I’ve bought everything he’s put out ever, even everything since 2008, none of which I’ve really liked, and played a couple of times each. I can’t buy this. I’ve listened front to back once, and it’s an absolute slog to get through. I think this is more a Steve Brown solo album, featuring Ace Frehley.

Yep...Trouble Walkin, Anomaly, and SI were all better. I love Ace's style but I am surprised how so many love this and say it's his best since 78 solo. Not even close, It's better than Spaceman. A lott of the vocal takes are so lazy....they bring the songs down. Plus Steve Brown wasn't the best guy to work with for Ace. Good production but maybe even over-produced.
It's all too perfect production, and lacks any character.
Few decent songs 10,000 Volts Cosmic Heart Fightin’ For Life Up In The Sky Cherry Medicine (Bon Jovi anyone?) Constantly Cute (Ridiculous) Both of these 🤮🤮
It's not as bad as it's being made out to be. "Cherry Medicine" is the only cringe worthy song. The lyrics... OOFF !! "Life of a Stranger" sounds like Ace. Time takes its toll people. Age is a bitch. And when you put your body through what he did.... So what that he tuned down a step ? It's still a hell of a lot better than the crap that KI$$ released in the last 2 decades.

Not to mention that unless he used AI, he actually sang on it.😅
To me all aces solo albums are shitty except the first
I haven’t heard the whole album, but what I’ve heard so far is awful.
No offense Ace…….hire a singer bro. Silly lyrics, un-inspired solos. Bummer dude.
He won’t be able to sing any of these songs live. His brain doesn’t move that fast.
After how much Ace hyped this release I was expecting something far better. Huge disappointment. I’m right there with you on his weak vocals and very limited effort on his solos.
