You ask yourself, as you look over the clearing you had fought on; Trees are left splintered, the once green grass has turned a sickly brown, small craters scatter the ground. You shake your head and continue onward, you have places to be, after all. You follow the stone path to your goal. You watch your sides and back, finding nothing, but when you turn your head forward again, you see a figure rushing to you, it seems not to be hostile towards you. As it gets closer you can see it bears the Cello Kingdom's insignia. You are happy to finally see a friendly face in this terrible forest. He tells you something horrid however, the Cello king has been killed by an assassin. Dread sets in, this was your fault. You should have been there to guard him, but you got caught up with this accordion-wielding madman. [Hello, Cello] Quest updated. With the Cello King dead, you have lost your greatest ally so far. Maybe you can convince his heir to help you.

After hearing some of the dev interviews, I’m really glad that the Accordion boss made it in. They said that he was almost cut due to time constraints, but one of their programmers spent a whole weekend _on his own time_ to get this boss implemented. Truly a miraculous tale if I ever heard one.

@@richardburns7651 Key word, *supposed*, it's been revealed that due to the time constraints, the code was a bit messy, and it could drop item number 427, usually known as a dev item of some sort, they patched it up in the remastered version though, and the dev tool made it worth killing him

Ahh yes, the sewer gopnik. Truly a terrifying boss to behold, but not too difficult once you figure out his rythm.

I'm going to make a DnD session where the party has a boss fight with a single human with an accordion, he will creep out of the dark, and as the music builds he slowly transforms, joints popping, limbs lengthening, and skin becoming more stretched as he grows in size, and appears as a crazed and malevolent force of folk music death.

Lovely how his tune gets faster the longer it takes to defeat him. He gets faster, stonger, has more defense, hoo boy. If you don't know what your doing, you can get overwhelmed fast, but you can deal with him quickly. The refight in the gauntlet, however? It would take forever to take him down even without his faster tune. He was truly the hardest boss in the game

Man, I took me FOREVER to beat this guy. When I first played this game, I didn’t have a clue as to what to do during the fight. It was honestly sheer luck that I was able to beat him. When I figured out the soft lock trick that you could do to easily defeat him, I don’t even know why I spent so much time in my younger years trying to defeat him.

I really wasn’t expecting this boss to have such a sad backstory.

@@Swampy0525 Yes. There was a little girl, Little Lulu was her name as far as I remembered. She's an orphan from Tappy Village, north of Tuba Kingdom. On the way to Tuba Kingdom, she and her family got ambushed by bandits, killing everyone except her. Eventhough she survived, she lost her left hand to the bandits. Although she made it to Tuba Kingdom, no one would give her care, causing her to live in the slump near the tavern. When you, the player, interact with her, she'll express her feeling of wanting to be a bard, just like her father. You can then choose wether to help her or not. The quests she gives are many, but none are difficult, ranging from collecting strings to killing rats. After you completed her quest for seven day streak, you'll unlock the secret sewer passage, which I recommend you to check for yourself. Entering the passage will reveal the dark past of the boss AND the girl, Little Lulu.

I imagine this boss to look like some 7 foot rotting mime with his legs infused onto a giant metallic wheel. With a flood of rats behind him. The fight would take place inside a labyrinth like sewer. The only way to know where he is, is by looking for the music and the occasional rat

And the way you know you’re getting closer is the music starts to speed up

The Accordion Heretic: After rejecting the Tubas, he was disowned by the Brass Kingdom and exiled. During the exile, he learned how to play a forgotten, thought to be extinct instrument named the Accordion. this made him very powerful, but also made him slowly go insane. You encounter him throughout the Dark Asylum level, constantly chasing you with his accordion. At the end of the level, he's at the brink of total insanity, forcing you to fight him to stop his manic plans to brutally kill everyone who rejected him and his Accordion. After damaging him enough, the Heretic falls to the ground, seemingly dead. But, its revealed that the Accordion was a sentient instrument that drove the heretic to insanity so he can use him as a vessel to take revenge against the Brass Kingdom for massacre of his kind. The Accordion then possesses the Heretic, transforming him into a gigantic monstrosity, where you must stop him once and for all before he destroys everything and everyone in his path of vengeance

the human mind limits how much content it can handle this game has seemingly infinite!

This would be a pretty creepy boss concept. Like, you go down into a dark, decrepit dungeon, with the faintest sound of an accordion hallowing the tunnels. When at the bottom, you find a 9ft tall, skinny, rotting humanoid like creature with its arms locked into an accordion-like mechanism. The fight would be it menacingly hunting you down in a Maze-like arena while the sound of the accordion follows you everywhere you go.

The story of this guy’s actually pretty unsettling. He was once a maestro like you, looking for more people to fight. But he got trapped somewhere, with only his accordion for company. He slowly started to go insane, seeing creatures that weren’t there, talking to his instrument. When you find him today he’s a husk of who he used to be, but he can still put up a hell of a fight, and trust me, he doesn’t like you intruding into his home.

"I breath a thousand notes, land a thousand blows, slain a thousand foes, so let's see if you're worth a thousandth of my gold!"

I'll be honest, I cried with this, imagining an extremely insane constantly teleporting manically laughing boss fight.

You are confronted by a short small goblin playing an instrument while sitting upon a throne of boxes. Alcohol surrounds him... he waves his drunken hand at you, beckoning you to come join in on the music... you stare blankly (Like this lmao :V) and tell him that you have places to be... he replies "Oh well mor -hic- alcohol for -hic- me ... I legitimately want to play this game.

This is the type of boss fight that needs to scare the crap out of you like "oh fuck, this is gonna be one hell of a fight," but then immediately become the most benign-appearing enemy ever. The boss fight starts out slow and easy, whilst ever-so-gradually becoming more high-tempo until it becomes overwhelming. And it would transition in difficulty so gently, so slowly that you initially let your guard down and when it gets more intense you get screwed over.

Hollow Knight's Eternal Ordeal be like

You can actually hear the echoes of this song floating up from a dark window to the dungeon all the way back in the first area of the game, before you get access to the castle depths. Really great attention to detail on the sound team’s part.

That drop at 0:40 gives off that uneasy vibe of "Oh crap, what the hell did I get myself into...? 😰" and I love it so much 😄

"This creature bears only some marks of the human form. With unnaturally pale skin and sunken eyes, its face is ever-contorted into a horrible scream. It doesn’t eat or drink, sustaining itself off of the discomfort that follows it." Oh, a Frenchman...

I really get mad-scientist/necromancer vibes from this. It would definetly make fun music to play for a D&D boss fight.

as soon as the accordion starts playing slowly after that horror bulid-up, you immediately knows this is NOT going to end nicely.

POV: you accidentally break a wall while exploring, behind it is a massive beating heart, you draw closer, warily, not knowing what to expect. The music grows more tense. Accordion fades in, you look behind you and the wall has been sealed, you panic and look back at the heart, which is now missing. The accordion begins to get faster, flames erupt around you revealing this is in fact a coliseum and an audience claps in sync to the beat

@@whaccoon They didn't betray me I killed the secret bass goblin hidden in a chest behind a secret wall close to the boss. Think I've changed my play through entirely, don't even think I'm halfway through still. Been grinding away for the past 2 months and I've gotten pretty good.

This is that one player-sized boss that has really annoying dodges and hard-to-avoid charged attacks.

this is the saddest boss, you can see the strain on his body gets worse the faster he plays, and at the end you realize - the accordion was the boss all along, IT was playing HIM

Kind of, he flails with the spin attack and after you odge it ofter enough he gets stunned for a short while. You can attck him then, but it repeats until he has only 30% Health left and then gets way more precise. And after all of that his drop isn't even that good

You know after you fight him the first time you can bring the four crowns from the Tuba king Flute queen Drum king And violin queen To him and get the “lordion of the accordion” side quest for after you complete the main plot in it he absorbs the crown and becomes the accordion king and turns the “kingdom of ruin” location into a accordion kingdom with his new found powers, it’s basically like the drum castle area but way harder and with more shops Edit: prob my fav dlc in a game ever but it’s a shame it transforms back after you reclaim the crowns though the boss fight was hard as hell, reusing the old hard attacks from the bosses but with accordions and with more speed

the Accordion Boss the most crazy and yet the most dangerous and his backstory is full of sorrow and hopeless is so long and tell his history fill me of a certain feeling of disappointment whenever you ask me in not gonna tell you find you own theory and amuse me "chuckle"

His music haunts the halls. His flesh is locked to the mechanism he hates, and the sound of his own movement has driven him mad.

**Forgotten Duke of Accordion** A once unique man of personality, fighting style, and charm. Once friends with the Instrumental Royalties, liked by most, with a tune so gracefully innocent, full of life, and charisma. A man undone by the betrayal of the tyrant, rule of the great city of Cymbalis, *The Tuba King* . Thrown out in the sewers and defeated, stripped of his health, physically and mentally, he gone mad. Unable to leave, he feasted on the scraps of the people and life in the sewers, only living out a fraction of what his life was, or that is what The Tuba King thinks. Weary of travelers, he stalks and waits, looking to see for an opportune time to strike, if only posing as a threat. You see, The duke may have gone mad, but his ways have never been forgotten, the way of dance, feast, and charm were never forgotten in his mind. Cymbalis is a place of bore and is a militaristic city, with no fun activities around, so the people go down to the sewers, seeking The Duke, with wine and bread, ready to have the time of their lives with The Duke.

He will not allow you to attack back. Just try to survive. The fight is both pretty short but also pretty hard, as you will not be able to heal. Try to get either very light armor to get as mobile as possible to dodge his attacks or get very heavy armor to tank the damage. The faster the music gets, the faster his attacks get too. Good luck

Gotta be careful, it's hard but not impossible,as the man on the top of the tread said,very light armor to dodge(which requires lightning quick reaction time)or very heavy armor which will be hard to get(you are probably only at one-third of the game and he will be very hard to close to impossible to find after destroying the first pillar that holds the Tuba God's throne) Loved that cutscene,mans got so mad.So you have two options,both are hard so buckle up,first is going to the destroyed city a little south of the boss fight,remember that junk you got when you were grinding to go against the tubiost? Hope you didn't throw them away,if so you have alot of pain waiting for you. Ten percent, goodluck,and that is with half maxed out luck which is hard to get.(you will know when it)When you get it you can make the boss your...............ally by showing him the thing and.........you should see it yourself.The other way is to get the tuoy of the tubiost,you can only get it if you hit the man...............fifteen times..........on his belly button..........good luck.It can two shot the boss but can only be used four times so be careful with it

If you talk to the tavernskeep about rumors, he will tell you about it.

As you venture forth into an dreary dark dungeon you found while on your journey, An orchestra begins to play. The black cobblestone vibrates, The dungeon shakes. The music gets louder and more threatening. Then the music stops and behind you, A small elderly man who seems to have drunken to much vodka with an accordion is smiling and he begins playing some jolly music. The music gets faster, And from his accordion sprouts dangerous visible waves of music. The waves seem to deteriorate your armor and burn your skin. It gets faster and the attacks get worse. The waves are relentless! They spread out like a shotgun blast. You dodge some, But now they are targeting you. The waves become undodgeable! When will this hellish fight end? You can't seem to hold up any longer, It seems the small elderly man is about to unleash a final attack. You flinch, But nothing hits you. The man is gone, And his accordion lay there on the ground waiting for a new owner. (I am not very good at writing but felt like making up a story.)

This boss scared the shit out of me the first time, his really jittery movement and, noises he made when attacking was definitely the many factors that made him terrifying.

Personally I found his fight rather difficult as his accordion changed from sole function as a shield/melee into a ranged weapon during his secondary stage. Took me by surprise

You just have to remember you upgrade your percussionist's gear to keep up with how fast the accordion boss is.

In order to encounter him you need to have the item [Blasphemous Sheet Music] equipped. The difficulty of the fight comes from the [Tempo Up] and [Harmony Down] debuffs it provides, making the boss attack faster and lowering your damage. Unequipping will make him run away mid fight, too, so you’ll have to deal with that. However, if you beat him you’ll obtain the [ Broken Accordion] instrument, and the sheet music transforms into the [Fifth Stanza], a trinket that boosts the broken accordion and a required item for the secret ending.

Accordion boss lore: After the fall of King Tuba the second, Accordion race were suspended for helping the revolution begin. String and Bass race were enraged on Accordion race. Prince Accordio wanted to have a conversation with Orchestra Empire king, but was rejected. Long time Accordion race lived in supression of other races, until Prince Accordio became new king...

I have a different lore idea In a land, where instruments hold great power, there were 3 nations: percussion, string and air instruments. But a curse fell upon the copper blow instrument land, that started fusing the instrument and the player into one monstrocity. Your hero goes to investigate. On his way he stumbles upon a small region, ruled by prince Accordion. Turns out he has been affected by the curse too: he has started losing his mind and his belly looks like the accordion middle part. A fight with the half mad prince is inevitable...

This boss is very difficult and his design in the boss battle was 100% different from any tuba bosses, is like he came from another game all his moves are unique and something that you've never seen in your whole journey, maybe this boss is a sign of a part 2 where we could see all the instruments in this world

This sounds like something you'd hear in Port Sarim.

Here’s my Accordion man lore/ defeat guide. This man is simply named the Accordant, and he has lived his whole life in misery. His true name is simply Michael. He was born into a town ruled by the Violins, whom didn’t enjoy non-violin neighbours. The town hated on Michael, and as a result, he fled to his father (who had been disguised as a violin and had to discipline his son to survive) who told him to go to the basement forever. An accordion is believed to be in that very basement to this day, originally Father’s, but passed down to the Accordant, going psychotic as he lives in the place he wished he wasn’t in.

I like how it begins very ominous and imposing, a grand display of evil. Then the accordion plays and I get chills down my spine. There is something about that sudden shift that is terrifying.

Battle timestamps: 0:00: Dramatic introduction 0:43: Anticlimactic reveal 0:52: Battle start; Phase 1 1:03: Phase 2 1:37: Phase 3 Likely player reactions: Dramatic Introduction: Oh shoot, this one looks difficult. Probably should've saved beforehand. Anticlimactic Reveal: Really? All of that hype for this guy? He doesn't even have amor! Phase 1: Pretty weak music. This isn't too tough. He should go down in just a few notes. Phase 2: OK this guy is taking more notes than expected. His attacks are getting stronger too. Still nothing I can't handle. Phase 3: OH GOD HOW IS HE THIS STRONG?!

I'm thinking Phase 1 should be a frail old man with his accordion coming out of the shadows Phase 2 makes him stronger with the accordion seemingly glowing a faint red Phase 3 would show the true enemy being a dark spirit trapped in the accordion with the man being used as a vessel of some sort

I was half asleep while listening from 0:00-0:40, and it seriously made me feel uncomfortable and distressed, like I was about to have a nightmare, or that there was someone in my hut looking at me.

this is like the scp stuff a community made series that anyone can add to

I love this picture, where did it come from. The music does not do the insane picture justice.

A truly beautiful piece of lore lies with this boss fight. As most know, he converted the original violin fencer and many others to his accordion of charisma. Not much lies with him but he has crafted many into the things we see as enemies today. This is what started the corruption of sound.

The boss is the only known instance of a living human in the game, and it’s doing unspeakable things to the lifeless body of an accordion… such twisted notes… a dark remembrance of what once was.

im gonna use this for a dnd campaign soon where one of the bosses is just a demonic bard/warlock jester

I love how the whole tuba boss meme has escalated to this magnitude. I mean seriously, who thinks at this point someone's going to end up actually making a game about this meme, and when it does arrive I will gladly take their entire stock.

Then he starts going berserk after you accidentally knock over something in his house.

Just give him some Kwass and he will actually play for you in the final battle because hey, drinking buddies, goes above any other loyalty. Seriously though that would seem like the NPC who has the most menacing entrance and then just laughs and asks you in the heaviest russian accent if you want a drink, while nearly crushing you to death in a hug.

There is cut content in the Tuba Kingdom game's files hinting that the Accordion Player was going to be a recruit-able party member. Due to scripting bugs and time constraints this was never the case, the only thing the Devs got to work was the actual boss encounter needed to go through before recruiting him. Some of the cut content includes dialogue for key moments in the game, moves that could be unlocked at the right level. Even a special interaction with Tuba Knight on his Third in-game encounter and fight.

The "Beast" that lies deep in the underground of Acordia (which weirdly looks like Bavaria) legends say that with his acordion he mastered the art of hypnotising with only sounds luring his nearby enemies into where he is currently staying at to either satisfy his hunger or to add them to his ever growing army of servants. Although this looks dark legends say that a person covered in brass will finally end his music once for all and put him back to his eternal sleep.

You can tell he wasn't expecting visitors since he was a "secret" boss and that expression says it all

This guy was terrifying even with Tubazooka he was hard as hell

THis keeps showing up in my recommended and it finally wore me down till the point I could no longer resist

Man, I remember seeing a walkthrough saying that you can spend the brass vodka bottles in the sewers for enchanting gear. NOBODY TOLD ME THERE WAS A BOSS FIGHT, OR THAT THE SEWERS WERE HAUNTED!!!!

This level was crazy hard, I almost thought it wasn't designed to be completed. And the parts where he becomes invincible and as big as the passage and chases you through the sewers, jeez.

This is incredible! Thankyou.

It's hilarious how menacing it starts off and then it just gets really bumbly

I remember doing this boss with friends and yeaaahhh.... this dude is hell. I recommend two tanky classes for him in the front and a lot of high dps fire mages in the back

I find it strange that the Sewer Gopnik's boss theme shares such a similarity with Captain Bellows' theme in the Squeezebox Seas DLC. And with the theories arising that Squeezebox Seas actually takes place before the main game , may imply that Captain Bellows is actually this boss. I'm not sure if i believe it though because the Accordion Pirates almost all seemed to be mechanical.

0:00 you are wandering through a dungeon after just visiting your blacksmith, he upgrades your armor and gives you soup aswell as advice to not go... especially since he lost his brother in there You leave his hutt at 0:10 and walk into a mysterious room which leads you to a hallway 0:20 a gate behind you closes 0:38 you start to slow down as you feel something bad happens 0:42 candles start to light up while you can’t move and an accordion starts to play Then you remember the blacksmith’s brother, who looks eerily similar to this slightly younger man

This boss killed me 1000 times dude... I couldn't avoid the fatal spinning kicks of doom :(

This boss was insanely difficult, not even gonna lie. I had to bust out my legendary Piercing Note flute sword and spam sharps at this guy. His movement is so damn erratic and it only gets quicker as the boss battle continues, it may as well be a race against time. After awhile you just can't dodge his attacks anymore; don't even get me started on the debuffs! Fortunately, his weapon is well worth it. One of the best support weapons in the game, if not the best. Definitely an item you'll want to give to a member of your band. Developed a few other strategies for this guy if any of you are still struggling.
