David, you’re the coolest guitar guru on the Tube. Thank you very much. Great tutorial.

I’ve commented on other videos, but am inspired to mention agin how much I like your teaching and playing even though I dont play in standard tuning so cannot use the info directly. I continue to search for the type of fills you presented in this video in Open tunings (Open G and D). Basically, I’d love to better understand the concept of playing fills using the chords because currently all I try and do is play a fill using the minor pentatonic box, sometimes changing the box to match the chord. But playing a fill within the chord while fingerpicking … A mystery. Thanks for the great videos. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada.

I´m joining the Fingerstyle Five. Love the way you teach, David. You remind me of Fred Sokolow.

Cool stuff. I was looking for something like this as an accompaniment strategy for cajun. There are a fair number (not all) who just let strings ring. That sounds cacophonic to me, like slide without muting. This would work as well for accompanying other instruments as it would vocals if you know the song

Been using that D/F#. Darn if I NEVER thought of a Dm as a D/F but it’s one of those Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious (BGOs) that one says “Why haven’t I seen that in 55+ years of playing?”
