I watched a doco on homeless people in the UK. A man had come over from India, destroyed his passport at the airport, claimed asylum then fled the first chance he got. Thirty years later he was too old and tired to be working off the books at building sites and decided that he wanted to return to India. He turned himself in to immigration and they contacted their counterparts in India to confirm his identity and get documents for him to travel. Unfortunately for him they could find no records of his birth, schooling or passport so they told the UK he's their problem. At the end of the doco he was still living rough but was being assisted by a charity that were trying to prove his identity. His biggest regret was destroying his documents as now it was like he didn't exist and he wasn't hopeful that he would ever get back to his home. There are worse things than prison.

I work with refugees and many of them do not have an actual birthdate as the birthday is not something celebrated in numerous countries. Often people who are born in villages do not have birth certificates issued and rely on village elders to validate their information and details in order to obtain travel documents. My adopted son had no birthdate but knew the months he was born in. Our government gave him an official birthdate for his paperwork.

They fine the drivers to discourage the corrupt ones from being paid by the immigrants. Cause some truck drivers do actually help the immigrants hide for a fee.

I am glad the man who was a volunteer interpreter got to stay, but one thing struck me that I haven't seen mentioned - How do they know he was actually interpreting what they were saying properly?

*The new york passenger should have said he would be there one or two weeks and he wouldn't have attracted this much attention to his case. As a u.s. passport holder, he can stay in the uk (at the time of this filming) for 3 months, visa free.. 6 months is just excessive for a vacation in any western country, if you're not swimming in money and even for that kind of person, it's kind of an unusual situation*

USA has the 3rd highest poverty rate among the OECD countries (only bypassed by Costa Rica and Hungary). And it is not because of illegal immigrants. Also, Afghanis, Syrians, Libyans are coming because there is war in their countries. Guess who started the last wars there? Nothing to be proud nor appreciative to be a US citizen.

Only a person from the US would be so easily violated.

Always feels sorry for them. May God give them help for there dreams. After watching these videos I feel more thankful to God for giving us food and residence in good places

I started watching Judge Judy when the lockdown began & boy did I learn. Few people get married because they pop out several children & get government benefits instead. SO MANY HAVE BEEN ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY from a young age. But they are able to have loads of children. Being a full time Mom was the hardest job I ever had. My back wasn't messed up until I had children. But when Vivid hit so many citizens scammed the Government it was embarrassing. I think at this point most benefits have run dry & jobs are starting to get filled but it has taken 3+ years. People no longer have honesty.

It's no wonder some of your food goes off faster than it should with this extra body heat around the food stuff

If you’re going to “exaggerate” to a customs officer it’s probably a wiser idea to underestimate the length of your stay as opposed to overestimating the amount of time that you’ve known your sponsor. You can always choose to “extend“ your stay once they’ve put that six-month stamp in your passport.

I also find it laughable that a man who’s unemployed would visit another country for a 6 months holiday with minimal funds and nothing to go home to would be deemed as acceptable. But he should be let in because he’s American right? They’ve denied entry to people from different countries with similar situations that plan on returning a lot shorter than 6 months. Why is he an exception?

@@thatshectic6529 He is not! I saw a nurse from Philippines, she had with her her diploma resume, everything. She want stay for 6 months. She came to visit her sister who just gave birth. The immigration officer told her that she can stay 2 months and no work! So, this American guy why he should not stay for 2 months? If I were him, I would show my bank statement to the officer! They called his friend to check if he is lying, but the friend told the truth! The US guy was not illegal!

I’m so lucky born in Australia travelled extensively in the world. I live in the lucky country! Great life.

@@morticiaaddams7227 when I was in the military we would go on field exercises. You wouldn't have a shower or be able to wash your clothes for days. When you got home and had a shower the first thing you'd notice was the smell of your uniform on the bathroom floor. It would stink and that was after maybe 10 -14 days. These guys have spent way more time living outdoors without the luxuries of scented soap or fabric softener.

I speculate NY dude in the middle of the video, had a sugar daddy in the UK willing to pay his way so he is away from a bad family. He is on the "downlow" about being gay and was told by his UK sugar daddy to say they met in Germany lol. Mystery solved!

I was born in 1958, so I can speak from experience. I know how decade to decade attitudes changed. If it were 1979 you were talking about, sure. That argument might work. But not in 2009? No way.
