Accept "Humanoid" Album Review (it is still classic Accept with some AC/DC mixed in)

Музыка

Today I'm going to talk about the new album Humanoid by the classic German metal band Accept. This is their 17th studio album, released on April 26th, 2024 via Napalm Records. It was produced by Andy Sneap and recorded in the UK.
The album deals with topics like AI, overreliance on technology, and other subjects like the Frankenstein story and drinking songs. There's a mix of heavy metal styles - some middle eastern influences, energetic songs made for live performance, AC/DC-styled rockers, and even some classical music elements blended in.
Right off the bat with the opening track "Diving into Sin", I'm reminded why I've always liked Mark Tornillo's vocals - he has his own voice but fits the band well as one of the best replacement singers in metal history. Songs like the title track "Humanoid" and "Frankenstein" showcase the band's signature catchy, melodic heavy metal sound with some cheesy but fun lyrics.
There's a good variety from harder riff-driven tracks like "The Reckoning" to more laid-back bluesy rockers like "Man Up" and the power ballad "Ravages of Time" about aging. Highlights include the unrelenting "Unbreakable", the paranoid "Mind Games", and the closing epic "South Side of Hell".

Hi John!!! long time Accept fan here.... the U.D.O. is the classic and best era of the band with the trilogy of "Restless...", "Balls.." and "Metal...." almost perfect heavy metal. Now with Mark Tornillo sixth studio album as you said they're not reinventing the wheel, but keep releasing good music, might sound very similar to the previous ones, but that's the formula that works for them. My only complain is that this is Wolf's show musically speaking with almost zero input from the other guys. cheers and be well

Yes I think the trilogy from the '80s that you mentioned was the band at their peak but other than that I thought the Mark Tornillo era of the band has been very strong.

Hi John Accept albums with Mark are good, agree its difficult for him, UDO legacy etc. Unlike Priest where Rob has all the classics and new material etc. Difficult for fans to they love the new stuff, but also want to hear the old UDO. Wolf is a great guitarist no doubt but what his wife did in conning UDO to sell the rights to his back catalogue was unforgivable. Similar to Sharon and Dio. It is what it is so have to run with it. One last thing I heard a recent interview with Wolf he doesn't listen to Metal these days only Led Zeppelin Uriah Heep Deep Purple etc. He prefers classical music Good review Take care
