ohhh this video is one of my most favorite ones I've ever worked on. I really wanted to focus on the intersection between "having an accent" and identifying with a different accent - your desired, preferred or aspirational one. I have so much more to say on that topic, since I'm bilingual, and I'm a linguist, and "speaking with an accent" is a thing I see in my fellow Polish speakers of English soooo often! Let me know your thoughts below! How do you feel about your accents? What do you think makes us even like an accent? Share in the comments 💜 I'm so happy to be creating videos again!!

I'm not even surprised it's one of your fav videos - I'm touched and so ecstatic about this video! 💜I don't know if it's possible but I literally feel how much joy creating this brought you 😘 It is always so on point and thoughtful what you add 💥 You care about your viewers so much 💫 I'm of the opinion you covered the topic perfectly and I'm more familiar there is a distinction between the two. After your accent masterclass in here I know that's okay to "have an accent" and "aspiring to the accent different from the person's-native-one" - I hope I didn't type it too complicated and got your message well xd :) Hm...when it comes to my Polish accent when speaking in English, I still sense it and the best I wish it was not senseable at all but it's way better now than it was, for example 10 years ago :P & I share your thoughts that it's inevitable that it's gonna shine through (I use your word from the video as it's a beautiful phrasal verb 😍) because I'm Polish-born person and it's my subconscious lang and I learn every day it's okay and I strive to my desired American accent and to say I'm sure it's an understatement that with your AAA course, I'm gonna reach the level I aspire to 💯 It's certain 🤪😄🤟👏 I suppose what makes us we even like an or our from-birth accent is the fact that we accepted our flaws like we do it with our friends, we take them with all and are not picky if we love them 🙃 Hihi, but when it comes to the fact how it's with this near-native accent, it's maybe because we internally feel it's pronounced so naturally and it pleases us as we feel professionalism and fluency out there 😛

It's gold! ✨ My goodness, It's so goood! I watched your video 4 times now xD I could listen to you endlessly 🤩 You're so funny, energetic and inspiring! Not to mention, it's insightful and such a safe space in here 🥰 Hahah, and the way you imitated Jennifer Coolidge was perfect - just like her, even the face expressions added up xD I feel the same with the word Polish vs. polish, hahaha 🤣 Woah, so it basically took you 20 years in total to reach that expert level in English 😮‍💨 Congrats! 🙌 Hihi, woah, I think, I'm gonna become a Swiftie because I start liking Taylor Swift even more now thanks to your references 😋 Alrighty, I'm guessing the titles of the songs..."22" was the 1st one and the 2nd one was "my tears ricochet", right? 🧠🙏🤭I relate so much to what you say, Laura, and what is said in the message you mentioned if I understood well that. I had an identity crisis when speaking English as a Polish native speaker that I wasn't good enough 😶but tbh I wasn't aware which accent I wanted to master but I remember at my grade school that I was sorta already aware of that there's slightly different accent taught there and I heard another one in songs or cartoons (I gotta admit I fell in love with ENG thanks to Looney Tunes and later understanding of the songs lyrics attracted me into this English direction 😛) When I was at a junior high American accent desire was forming up and at high school, I knew I'd rather talk that way. However, during uni years I was only just hella sure I wanted to have such an accent no matter what bcoz even when I tried to say the word just like that while practicing for the phonetics exams it was going more this way than British accent one and once one phonetics lecturer helped me realize, it's closer to me but he couldn't help me in that matter and later I found you and American Accent Academy 😁 Thanks a bunch for the pieces of advice and steps towards active learning regarding PRON 😃 I really admire how fluently you talk and how many expressions you know in English + how naturally you use all of them 😘 I look up to you! 🫂

Actually having an accent is a very big issue in USA that’s the way I see it. I was the only one person in class that had accent because everyone else were Americans I just hoped that maybe there will be at least one foreigner person like me and I won’t be alone but unfortunately I was alone. That’s why I was so embarrassed and terrified . I felt like I don’t belong there because whatever I say everyone else will catch that I’m not from here. And I hate that feeling just hate it . Other people say accent is part of you identity where u from etc bulldhit I dont fck… care about I just hate being unique and different. I just can’t accept that.

Hmm, but you croak your voice, which is caused by latent insecurity or watching too much tv from 'the valleys'. I do find it great you don't say 'like' all the time tho.
