You can buy a tool and the anti-reverse bearing from Mike's Reel Repair in Canada. I have actually purchased both and they work very well.

A nice non-edited video there Jamie, just don't know that you could put that 1st part of the clutch mechanism on the left hand brass post on the brakeplate, it usually goes on the right one....but it clearly works either way round....nice to do it differently to the schematic and it still works perfectly. Keep the videos coming. Rob.

I have done mine with a mono mag abec 9 ceramic bearing abu ambassador 6500 c3 ct elite blue yonder spins for 2min 30 sec amazing what a service dose

Hi Jamie great video just one thing you are putting the shim on the brake side of the spool, The copper shim 10258 goes on the gear side, well it does on the Abu diagram.

i have a 6500 c3 and took it apart to clean , and see if i could how it worked and fix my other c3 that isnt working properly , now i can get spools to turn over,, the plate with springs seems to be under the yoke,,, and in this vid its on top,, so do they do it both ways or is my wrong and that is the problem? anyone please help, i notice when i have top cap and handle off and i press on yoke it will turn spool , trying to test it ,, any help please respond?

Hi jamie when i service my reels i soak the carbon drag washers in lighter fuel for 10 mins to get all the crap out of them then dry them off. Then put them back in the reel without the need of oil. Just thought id share with you the way how i do it. Also I purchased a 6500 rocket an it has the PMR N50 magnets in and must i say they are very powerful also has the custom PMR crown screws on both sideplates 😁👌🏼 stay safe jamie i love watching your videos 🙂💪🏼🙏🏻👍🏼

That will make the drag washers brittle because you have removed all the oils from them.

The only reason why i done this jamie mate is because when the drag was up tight is was still slipping with hardly any pressure when trying to rotate the spool but after doing it the drag dont slip now like it did before. Had bits of dirt an sand particals in them.

Nothing special. That Ultrasonic bath my wife uses to clean jewellery, you can pick them up on the Bay of Evil and Thieves for around £30. Degreasing agent was Fairy washing up liquid

I've seen several videos and nobody used an ultrasonic cleaner. Was just wondering why nobody had done it.

Probably because they would have to spend between £30 and £50 to buy on. I also use a larger ultrasonic cleaner for my dive gear which is where I got the idea. As a Master Diver with over 5500 I know how corrosive sea water is to most diving and fishing gear. Its not just cleaning the gear, it's getting rid of dry salt crystals that do all the damage. An Ultrasonic cleaner will do that!

I was thinking about the old Penn Leveline 350 design and was imagining something like that designed better for a casting reel like these in the video!!!! If anyone could do it .... it’s you ..

what about oiling the bearings when you removed them from the lighter fuel, I read somewhere, never spin them without oil

924eightball if there ceramic Abec bearings they run dry and dont require oil. Where as the original bearings require oil. I use less than one drop of oil i use the end of a cocktail stick just to poke the minutest bit of oil in to the bearings. To much oil slows the bearings down. Only need the tip of a cocktail stick of oil for them. 🙂👌🏼

@@shaineriches4369 ceramic bearings should still get a tiny drop of oil too. The balls are ceramic and don’t need oil yes, but everything else inside the bearing is still made of stainless steel (unless you buy an inferior bearing with chrome races/cage), and that stainless steel can still corrode and seize upjust like any other stainless steel bearing, and plus, ceramic is harder than the steel and can wear the bearing over years of use, so a little bit of oil can really prevent that extra wear and tear and it won’t hold your cast back, it’ll slow your freespool time a tiny bit but it won’t really make a difference on the water when you’re using brakes and/or your thumb anyways to slow it down,

I don’t mean it as a snob or prick or anything just saying this to help, I work on my reels a lot and over the years have noticed better long term performance on my ceramics with oil vs dry ceramics, after a while the dry ones started getting louder and feeling less “buttery smooth” on the spin whether in the reel or on my bearing testing stick, even after soaking and cleaning in acetone and lighter fluid, and that choppiness in the bearing translated to reduced spin time and just not feeling smooth and nice anymore

What kind of line is that orange stuff? From here it looks like fly-line.

shock leader i think its 10 lb per oz of sinker or lead , saves killing someone ,lighter line breaks when you put a bit of grunt in,

Don't believe what you read (Sir Bob Geldof). Shims are used to center the spool in the cage. Not all abu reels have a float chamber on both plates.

Put some lube back on the spool bearings.

29 min. video with no tear down whats the use????
