What is the purpose? Avets are already magged and overly braked. Plus they are lever drag, a simple adjustment of the drag and you will not have issues. On top of that, the MXL is huge and not really used as a casting reel.

Tell that to the fishermen who use reels like this with custom mags to cast very large perks into the middle of blue fin Tuna in a bait ball. They do this off the back of large boats in the Middle East in the bay of Oman and San Diego in the US

Yes, but you would need to check the spool is made of Aluminium. Some of these reels had a graphite spool, if so mag will not work, the spool needs to be Aluminium.

@@PimpMyReel I have five intact ones, none with plastic spools. I suppose if the magnet is not big enough I could just stick a bigger one on there?

@@growleym504 I am going to buy a 209m from Amazon and mag it just 4 fun. PS The 209ms has a stainless steel spool. That will not work. The 209m available of Amazon has an Aluminium spool!

@@PimpMyReel Oh bummer I didn't realize SS spool wouldn't work. Gotta see how many of mine are AL and how many SS. I was actually considering sending you one for the cause but I bet mine are all SS spool so I need to order a couple of AL spools and hope they fit.
