I've done the same. But found it made the surrounding Aluminum softer. It was on water bypass on a SR20DE engine. But has held for the last five years.

Does welding jams the crank case bearings in future???

I can't believe it, but when you were filing to fit the cap I freaking blew on the screen to clear the chips! Then I literally LOL'd! 😆

That was very similar to my crankcase i just rethred the 12mm by 14mm and used steel epoxy to fill and cover the craks and its ok no leaks at all.

Great repair, but with the labor involved, I don’t see it being cost effective unless you’re doing it yourself. Shop rate adds up fast, and that looks like a day’s worth of labor.

Unfortunately labour here is not that rewarding

When my Teslas crack I always just diecast a new chassis in my giga press

Nice, I would just dremel a ditch where the crack is and then used some JB weld.

Gute Arbeit? Kreuzgefählich,was da gezeigt wird. Wenn da ein Riss ist,zeigt das als erstes,da ist materialermüdung oder eine Spannung im Material. Als Nächstes,einen Leichtmetallblock so zu löten ist Unsinn...nein Spannungen werden ins Material gebracht,materialverwerfungen können entstehen. Un d wenn du das teil einbaust,knallt die Bude komplett weg...ich bin Metaller und instandhalter...

I fail to.understand why Auto companies do not provide aluminium Nut instead where it will be firs to loose threading s that any way can be replaced with every oil change . Or in that case High temperature plastic nut like dip stick .
