Boros died from his own attack and was already out of energy. Boros, thanks to his regeneration, could have withstood any blow from Saitama But he ran out of energy and that was the result.

@bluetroper163 nah, I dont think Boros planned to die by using that attack, that wasnt a suicide attack. He would probably just ran out of energy and just weakened back to his original form, normally. He end up in that half destroyed corpse condition was also the result of Saitama's punch somehow. Not even that, if Saitama had directly serious punch him from the get go, he would've been erased to his atoms and his conscious and there wont be any regeneration from that regardless of his stored energy, lol.

The heartbeat you hear at the climax of the fight is the same heartbeat that is heard during the dream sequence in Episode 1 when Saitama faces the subterraneans. It's the same sound effect, but this time, it's Boros that is feeling it; the exhilaration of a real fight. Saitama humours Boros and gives him the fight he wants. When Saitama is forced to end the fight, Boros realises how outmatched he is, and also realises that Saitama is in the same position that he was in. The piano version of the main theme hits, and in that moment, Saitama and Boros understand how the other feels. "But I was too strong" "You were too strong."

yea, its Boros feeling bad for Saitama because he knows from his own travels across the universe that Saitama will likely never get the satisfaction of a real fight ever again. Boros may have died, but it makes you feel more sorry for Saitama as he has to live with that realization. They are the same, the only difference is that one goes searching for the fight whereas the other typically waits for the fight to come to him in a sense - "You cant just go around destroying planets"

It's true. There's a reason why Saitama's victory is portrayed with the sad piano music, instead of the epic guitar riff. Boros was the one to make the last real blow. He knew Saitama wasn't just lying to him, but to himself, trying to convince himself that he enjoyed their fight like the one in his dream, but he did not. That is why the mood of the scene is melancholy instead of triumphant like most fight victories. Which is why Saitama walks away with his head down, covered with shadows, with somber music playing. Feeling contempt, knowing he's cursed being too strong to experience a true victory after an honest fight.

Yeah, it feels almost tragic. Boros travelled the width of the galaxy to meet his match only to realize that he had become what his victims once were to him: barely noteworthy. That moment when he finally understands that the most thrilling fight of his existence didn't even strain Saitama really hits differently. It's sad for Saitama AND Boros. Boros because he realized he didn't even scratch the tip of the iceberg and Saitama because if even a galactic conqueror wasn't tough enough, what are the chances that the Earth will ever birth or witness the visit of anything that would be an actual challenge? This put an end to Boros' quest for a worthy adversary just as much as it did for Saitama. Two different ends, but basically the same outcome.

One of the best ways I've heard One Punch Man's writing described is that usually in stories the plot happens to the characters but in OPM, Saitama happens to the plot. It's genius how the author writes around the fact that Saitama is stupid op

What's even cooler is that many stories try this and fail. They write an op character but are too focused on the shock value of the others. In One punch man it's balanced enough. The villains and the heroes are shocked by Saitama's strength, but they also try to beat the threat/threats around them. Plus I love that most of the insane stuff that happen is usually never witnessed by anyone.

There's so much deep meaning to this fight. Yes, Saitama could have instantly obliterated Boros, but he gave him his dream of fighting a worthy rival. That's all Boros longed for, and Saitama gave him that. Saitama tells Boros it was a hard battle to let him realise his dream before Boros passes. As Saitama walks away, he is also heartbroken as he wants a worthy opponent just like Boros had, however it took Boros 20 years of searching far and wide across the galaxies to find Saitama; what hope does he have.

It's still crazy that 99% of S-class heroes gonna get owned against Boros even to this day.

funny thing is boros vs saitama is actually mirror episode 1 in saitama dream the way his heart beat and the way he run toward the king.

Many people think saitama won the battle but it's quite the opposite. Boros all his life he dreamed to be in a battle where he can go all out and be scared to lose. hence the light shining above him before he died. And Saitama going back to darkness empty-handed again.

Like the day after this episode aired I went to read the whole manga because I was like "where else could it go from there"

@@syressx9098 i did a rough calculation but im no mathematician so i dont know if its very accurate but basically i just calculated using our moon as a base and i used half the moon area since only half will be facing the earth and the whole area that covers the earth over the same distance as the moon (just picture a giant sphere that covers the whole earth at the same height where is the moon, 238k miles) and calculated what percentage the moon surface is compared to the rest, obviously there is more to calculate such as the moons trajectory and such but that was too much for me, also i dont know if there is an specific equation to make this easier either. seems low enough thinking the moon is very very very small compared to the earth. if theres anyone with more math knowledge be my guest in correcting anything.

Fun fact but Boros was created by the author 20 years ago from this episode, and his entire story was just an overpowered guy seeking the strongest people in the galaxy to defeat. When he tells Saitama he's been waiting 20 years, he's referencing the real life time of 20 years that passed since the author wrote his story when he was a kid to this episode.

At his end, Boros looked like me after I ran for 15 feet

NOT ONCE! No matter how many times I've watched this fight has it never failed to give me Goosebumps when Boros said "I Will Defeat You!" and "Collapsing Star, Roaring Canon!" those lines is sooooo fucking epic!

Truly one of the greatest fight scenes to ever be animated. The use of colour is impeccable. The studio brought in a lot of big names from the industry to work on season 1 of OPM and it really shows. Season 2 doesn't as good by comparison, but it is still great.

You guys should watch the OVA episodes of this series, OVA its like Cannon filler episodes.

The names of Saitama's punches or attack in general, like "Easy Punch", "Normal Punch", "Serious Punch" are suppose to be a joke by Saitama making fun of how everyone else and typically anime in general always give flashy names to their attacks and shout it out loud before doing it. It's very clever. I'm sure you get it, but unfortunately some people missunderstood it and really take it seriously 😂

Fun fact the kid in the first episode with the huge ballsack chin was the grandchild of the founder of the hero association, and because saitama saved him from the crablante thing the Childs grandad created the hero's association so basically all this was because of saitama

Lord Boros is a pretty epic villain. I wished the fight could’ve lasted longer but his going all out was intense, definitely one of the best animated fights.

This is probably my most-watched episode of any show ever.

I was waiting for Saitama's Serious Punch! And I agree this fight is mind blowing, loved watching you guys react to it. It's funny that Carter, having seen this already, still had his mind blown again. He should definitely do that glass painting, I'd like to see it. My only problem with this reaction is, where's the discussion? Posting the season 1 finale with zero discussion is a super weird editing choice.

I love how they did this fight, Saitama episode one just wanting a real good fight so letting Boros go all out on him to give him what he'll only get in his dreams. I think the heart beat scene is something of an indication of them giving it their all, or they are truly satisfied or happy in that moment.

Saitama saying to boros is strong actually means he is the strongest he ever faced compared to the the enemies he fought, in reality boros is below fodder compared to saitama.

Definitely watch the special episodes 1-7 before the 2nd season, you will get extra story that happened in between episodes.

Honestly going forward you should notice aside from one guy ..whenever saitama uses his serious series he never touches his opponents..its the aftershocks that always kills them..except for one guy..

Ya the history of how season 1 got animated is cool. They got all the best free lancers to come in and work on each episode on an individual basis.....Then season 2 sadly got sent to a work horse studio without nearly the same level of talent. Do not expect this level of quality for next season. We are hoping season 3 is able to bring back some of the free lancers, cause the manga panels get insane!!

jc staff isnt taking in the freelancers but they have been working on production for over a year now and still no trailer or dates so they taking time

Saitama actually stalled the fight in order to give Boros a "good" fight because they were the same. Both were "Too strong" and unable to enjoy fighting, however Saitama was stronger and so in understanding Boros, Saitama gave him what he won't be able to get himself.

I hope you guys watch the OVA's. I don't think that every OVA deserves its own standalone reaction video, but there are definitely a couple of interesting ones. I suggest you do a video where you react to all of them together.
