Finally a tip I can see uses for
Add a stop collar on the drillbit
I have seen a lot of these on the web, but this one is amazing. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

Finally. Someone has a great in invention. I’m making my own
For anyone watching, you don't have to use a full on bearing for this. It doesn't spin, it's glued in. Bearings cost more than a simple steel collar. A steel collar is like 1/4 the cost.

@@BadOmenRGV Right, but a collar or even just a simple spacer or bushing at the hardware store is like $2 or less if you don't have any of that shit lying around, or you don't feel like ruining whatever you take it out of. I understand what you are saying.

The *outside* ring of the bearing is glued in and does not spin. The inner ring of the bearing, that is touching the drill, is not glued. It will spin. Allowing the inside ring to spin means you are nicer with the drill bit.

Dude! You didn't match up the knots..lol. Great idea.

Uso isso ha 20 anos, mas sem o rolamento. Simplesmente no meio, um furo da mesma largura de um lápis, sem folga. Assim marco o meio exato.
Absolutely genius ..

Willy-nilly CA glue for the bearing, chaotic choice. I like

The bearing did it! Yes, must be a bearing and not just a hole...dowels should be steel, wood wears out.

@ashleypowell8066
8 күн бұрын
I think any imperfection in centering the bearing between the two dowels will be canceled out if you make sure the same dowel is against both mating faces. It'd be a good idea to mark the dowels to facilitate this. The drilled holes might not be perfectly centered between the edges, but it doesn't matter as along as they are both the same distance from their mating edges.
@Eun2k
8 күн бұрын
@@ashleypowell8066 I guess what I mean is, you can have the line in "the window" so to speak, but it might not be dead center in the bearing. I guess for what it's for it would be close enough and this jig is pretty versatile when it comes to different widths of boards. Nice idea.

You can buy a jig from a number of woodworking supply houses that will cost LESS than that bearing, offer different drill diameter sizes through inserts, be made of metal, and be more accurate.....SO WHY BOTHER DOING THIS ?? And the way the glue was applied to the bearing....was it meant to "lock it" from turning (kinda good..??) as well as keeping in place or not ?
Nice
