What is the point of this mountain? If they weren't going to put anything on top, why not just remove the mountain or at least parts of it. It's just obscuring the parts of the map below it.

It's almost certainly why they put it here, but I'm not sure why they couldn't have a little spirit spring somewhere on the side of Belurat there. I get it insofar they wanted the Belurat reveal to be cool, but they could've just put the spirit spring somewhere after you exit the tunnel, idk.

In the base game there are no big inaccessible plateaus like this, so it's likely an area they left unfinished. Some parts of the surface also look quite detailed, as if they were planning to allow access to it.

Even in Moghwyn palace there's an entire rock platform near to elevator empty af, and a huge section in lake of rot with lots of rot pools that appears on map, but unreachable.

Weird how verticality played an important role in this DLC but this big area is just there, empty. Not even accessible normally.

It's not particularly weird when you consider their design goals. They were very deliberate with terrain placement so that it obscured routes on the map. This area is the very top layer of the map. So their only option was either leave the paths visible or place terrain in the way. The goal being to obscure routes, particularly between regions, their best option was the terrain.

@@JoeDower101 Yep. Literally just a path. Which is how you know that obscuring region transition paths was their primary goal. If it wasn't, there wouldn't have been a need to go out of their way to cover up one path. There's also some visual blocking that the terrain serves, obscuring the neighboring region and forcing the eye upward towards the various skyward structures. But mostly it's a tool to force you to not just look at the map and then run straight to things. It forces you to explore a bit so you're less likely to miss things like upgrade and crafting materials.

@@Pantagana "half the size of this one" was a huge exaggeration lol, but it's inaccessible land above the route to Liurnia around the castle. You can go to the Limgrave Divine Tower (or debug fly) to get a good look at what I mean from a better vantage point.

I feel confident from the info we get about her that she was just meant to be a character in Marika's past and as an explanation for the godskins, but she's not actually important AS A CHARACTER.

@@petercottantail7850 There's a video up showing what's back there. I wouldn't call it a void. But it's just some incomplete terrain and a couple of trees. The one nice bit is that the back of the mansion is fully modeled. They didn't really need to since there's no way to ever see it and it's not particularly interesting to look at. But it is neat that it's not just a textureless hole back there.

I've been trying to figure out the mystery behind the Scadutree chalice, and a comment I got on Reddit implied that there may be an unknown location somewhere below the deathplane in that area which was accidentally found by clipping through the world. Maybe you could take a look?

Must have been cut at a middle stage of development. All that modeled clearly intentional "ramps" for traveling lacking collision... Indicates a human hand touched the area with the idea of player interaction. EDIT: would have been a neat place for the Scadutree Avatar fight at the top pool area.

this is the first time i saw in a fromsoftware to make map big just to make it big. in my exploring i experienced A LOT of disapointing emptiness in the map just to run around to find nothing at all, even a mob. most of it was looking gorgeous indeed but landmass like this mountain you showd are just there to be there without any purpose

Being used to search everywhere for loot, lore, secrets.. and have entire areas in the DLC where there is nothing... It's the major issue of this DLC and I think I like it less than the original gamr for that

It's so weird that there is no way to get up there. Behind Midra's Manse is one thing, and those two inaccessible plateaus in Rauh are also still more forgivable, but this one tortured me my entire goddamn playthrough, I spent HOURS trying to get up there to no avail.

Exploring this feels like exploring rocks in mohg palace. If you parkour down the rock near the second to last grace you can go to a hole in the ground that insta kills all enemies including mohg if you didn't beat him or you can travel around all of the swamp except above the cave area you come from when visiting for the first time.

Please can you make a video to showing us what it looks like at the top of the tower, at the arena where we fight Radahn. I mean the place where Radahn is at the beginning of the fight, on those steps, between those two little towers where all the bodies are. You see what I mean, you get into the arena and in the intro you see Radah appear at the top of the steps! I would have liked to go up after the fight, but this is not possible because the stairs were broken by Fromsoft! Please a video!

I think it makes sense, but it's not super intuitive or helpful considering the verticality of a lot of areas. It ends up with the map being less useful than it could be, because a bunch of places are covered up by the "top layer" of the world.

@@ArjunB5 I would say that abyssal woods compensates by its mood but yes it's frustrating... Being used to search everywhere for loot, lore, secrets.. and have entire areas in the DLC where there is nothing... It's the major issue of this DLC and I think I like it less than the original gamr for that
Elden Ring has made me paranoid of twisting tree/roots in game, thinking that Godwynface would just jumpscare me out of nowhere

They're are actually a few area like this in the SotE, either normally reachable or not. The DLC honestly feels kind of unfinished to me, or like they got crunched for time and had to get it out.

This area, alongside the one beyond Midra's Manse were meant for more than just empty spots... maybe even the top of Rauh Ruins...
It's so weird that there is no way to get up there. Behind Midra's Manse is one thing, and those two inaccessible plateaus in Rauh are also still more forgivable, but this one tortured me my entire goddamn playthrough, I spent HOURS trying to get up there to no avail.
Yeah i talked with Miazaki he told me you would fight a zombie fia fucked in opening slides and after have a lift down to a godwyn boss fight.
I feel like there are a lot of areas they wanted to add more to. Like the abyssal woods should have more going on imo, like the big crows from caelid would make it truly horrifying if they just dropped out of trees to murder you!
Exploring this feels like exploring rocks in mohg palace. If you parkour down the rock near the second to last grace you can go to a hole in the ground that insta kills all enemies including mohg if you didn't beat him or you can travel around all of the swamp except above the cave area you come from when visiting for the first time.

This doesn’t work anymore, they fixed it in one of the recent patches.
If you're planning on continuing these, please show us the uppermost plateaus of Ancient Ruins of Rauh. The plateaus visible on the map can't actually be accessed, you can just walk beneath them, inside the temple structure.
Ever been to the big water resivor in leyendel? Well there is nothing there too...

Please can you make a video to showing us what it looks like at the top of the tower, at the arena where we fight Radahn. I mean the place where Radahn is at the beginning of the fight, on those steps, between those two little towers where all the bodies are. You see what I mean, you get into the arena and in the intro you see Radah appear at the top of the steps! I would have liked to go up after the fight, but this is not possible because the stairs were broken by Fromsoft! Please a video!
Can you do behind the Manse please here you fight Midir please. I can't get there and always wanted to know because it's a large area. And on top of the platforms too because I can't get up there but I keep hearing rats n things up there so I'm sure there's a way.
So I had been spoiled that Radahn would show up. During my first run, I thought this spot on the map was going to be our battleground. Like all out war. Approaching on horseback, armies, and a grand clash. I still enjoy what we got.

dude tbat thumbnail is most of the fuckin map without a guide lmao. The map they gave you in the base game looked great and actually functioned too. This one also looks great but makes litterally no sense.

I think it makes sense, but it's not super intuitive or helpful considering the verticality of a lot of areas. It ends up with the map being less useful than it could be, because a bunch of places are covered up by the "top layer" of the world.
