about music (#5): The Myth of the Maestro | Alan Gilbert & Michail Paweletz | NDR Podcast

Музыка

How come so many people think that conducting is easy? Alan Gilbert, Chief Conductor of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, talks to presenter Michail Paweletz (Tagesschau news anchor) about competition at the baton and the question of what makes a good conductor. Can great art really only be created by authoritarian personalities who spread fear and exert pressure? Or is it possible to lead an orchestra differently? This, and the question of whether orchestras need a conductor at all, is the subject of the fifth episode of the NDR video podcast "about music".

Simple answer, based on a lifetime of listening: A great conductor makes a huge difference in the creation of a performance.

Love it. A very interesting discussion not to be missed. An excellent musician and not an excellent conductor! How true it is! Thank you very much for very intelligently sharing your views.
