Haley always has a smile at the end and usually says thank you to the audience. What a class act!

That's my girl... THAT's how you sing a religious hymn/anthem: the way it was intended by it's author/composer, not with crazy vocal runs which trivializes it and brings it down to the level of an ordinary pop song...

Such a beautiful singer, Hayley Westenra is, in terms of both physical appearance and singing voice. Damn near impossible to not tear up when listening to her sing.

I used to sing this song in the Catholic Chuch they used to call me out of class when I was in Santa Maria Convent to sing in the church when someone passed away. I remember it like yesterday.💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

Lol what is this, a young lady singing a tune which has got no connotations to the lord or anyone else, this is a tune that was sung for a sports match at Wemblyfor the final of a league match.

@Sakkra101 lol this is tradition at league matches where Abide With Me is sung, no one in the stadium cares to continental sarnies about the religious overtones, this is the tune that has been sung at finals for decades got it.

Her voice is incredible ❤️

I am a hospice chaplain and I share this hymn with patients at the end of life more than any other song or writing. Perfect for any and every occasion! Beautiful job Hayley.

We grew up listening to music. It was Ace, Fantastic, Fab, and Top of the Pops... None of us described it as beautiful.But here it is. `Remember Him that will abide with you.

Wow, this is truly amazing to hear an entire stadium singing praise to our Lord. It gave me goosebumps. I only read about this recently. What an awesome tradition and such a beautiful hymn. I would love to hear this in other sports as well here in Canada and the US. "In life or death abide in." If only more people would come to know Jesus great love for them and have their lives changed forever.

A cracking good song that brings tears to my eyes for it's beauty. I heard a Dutch Choir sing this in Arnhem, Holland at the 60th anniversary of Operation Market Garden in 2004 and it was truly, truly beautiful and emotional to hear it and listen and see WW2 Vets in floods of tears.

The tradition of singing "Abide with Me" at rugby and soccer stadiums started as a prayer, a remembrance and a tribute to those who lost their lives in the World Wars - who numbered as many players as spectators.

It is amazing to me that this song approved--I personally love it. It would never fly in the US--although more "churched" than the UK, this would be crushed by the ACLU. Even if you think religion in its traditional form is archaic, there is something appealing about a message which says, "I can't always solve my own problems. If there is a power out there to help and protect me, please, be there." BTW, this hymn was written by a Scottish Anglican stricken with TB. He died 3 weeks later.

Recently, a lot of bad luck came to me and my family, and I even had chills, so I thought of suicide. I used to calm my anxiety after looking for videos related to shamanism on KZread. Then, I overheard the Abide with me, at the funeral of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg, by chance, and I even found and read Korean lyrics in my mother tongue. I understand anyone, although he gonna cry with this song. When I die later in future, I strongly believe God will surely show me a bright cross. I will keep my faith for the Eastern Orthodox Church to the end.

It has been sung at every rugby league challenge cup final for over 80 years. I have no religion, but I would resist any attempt by the RFL to omit it. I hope one day to sing it with my team having made it to the final. It's very much a tradition from perhaps more religious days. Does that answer your question?
