Hayley Westenra ヘイリー 海莉 sings Amazing Grace アメイジング·グレイス a cappella, live on stage at the New Zealand National Christchurch Memorial Service, following the tragic earthquake of February 22nd in Christchurch.
The service took place in front of many thousands, at North Hagley Park Christchurch on 18 March 2011. Christchurch is Hayley's home town, large parts of which was destroyed by the earthquake.
This video is uploaded as HD to maximise the KZread audio and video quality but it was recorded as SD video and upconverted to 720p.

I am also a Christchurch boy. One minute of disaster and the city will never be the same. This performance expresses the grief, the resilience and the resolve. It still gives me goosebumps
Best a capella version of this I can recall. Simple and moving.
Still to this day this is the most moving and beautiful version of this song
The crowd was noisy until Hayley Westenra started Amazing Grace and with only her singing you could hear a pin drop. Truly an angel.
Amazing! Just that she does it acapella makes it even more beautiful

I first heard Hayley when I was in the beautiful garden city of Christchurch in 2002. I do hope that from the rubble and the tragedy that Christchurch will once again be rebuilt and renewed to its former splendour. I was there only six weeks, but in 67 years I have not found a more splendid city or a friendlier people.
No music is necessary when Haley performs. She is so effortless and pitch perfect. She truly has the GIFT. Thank you Haley for sharing it with us.
This is an angel come down to give us comfort. Tell me I'm wrong.

Truly magnificent. A song of 'faith' not necessarily religion.
Voice of an angel? Forgive me but I have never heard an angel sing.I have heard Hayley sing and it is beyond incredible. This young lady has the purest voice I have ever heard.An absolute amazing talent.

I absolutely agree to others' opinions of her being an angel with no wings. She has wonderful voice. I guess that an angel's voice is the same as hers. I offer her many thanks From south korea.

How can 37 people dislike this? I was there this day and i balled my eyes out. I had strangers around me doing the same thing, and in the area i was standing in everyone started to hold hands and everyone hugged at the end. Such a amzaing voice. I was moved to tears. ;'-( I remember when she was with Celtic Woman, who I have seen in person. Unfortunately, she was not part of the group then. This was my mother's favorite song! I remember my Mother singing this so many times in church. I must say Thank You Haley for your Awesome "a capala" version of Amazing Grace your & God Given Voice that you use to Praise God with!:-)

Isn't she just so flawless, both her looks and her voice, and she can sing so powerfully without any music, that takes some doing as then any faltering sticks out a mile so she's a real class singer just like the late and great Judy Durham from the Seekers.

Nicely done! I can attest to how hard it is to keep your tone and pitch perfect while singing a capella and she did it. Her voice didn't waver once, very well trained!
