WOW! Abi The Cheetah had TWO CUBS! Everyone was SO shocked but elated! It was not expected as Abi was become a rescue cheetah education the public about captive but handicapped cheetahs! But several vets said she could mate and bare cubs if so desired. She DESIRED!
Abi has progressed far beyond Everyone's expectations. We are so proud! She has matured so much in the past year after acquiring her for my project and moving her to this one. Her confidence rose as well as her her condition with her bad hip and mental state. She started relaxing and trusting the folks caring for her and she OPENED up to everything to include breeding! Her mind and body opened up to the prospects of becoming a mother. Conditions were right! She selected a mate, one from this cheetah breeding project who is genetically diverse and viable, and they bred twice at two different times and the 2nd time succeeded in pregnancy!
The cubs are doing super! Nursing from mom from moment one. I'll be preparing future updates and posts about the cubs and mom. This video is few months old but everyone is doing SUPER!
Abi is legally owned by me but the cheetah father who bred with Abi is not. From a breeders agreement, only the female cub will be owned by me while the male is owned by the fathers owner. Both cubs will be FULLY raised to adulthood by Abi. As a first time mother, she is doing VERY well. SO protective all sudden and calling to them and nursing. She LOVES them. It's best to have mom cheetah raise their cubs because no one can substitute mothers milk. It has all the special nutrient inside to include antibodies, growth hormones and fats. So important!
I was amazed how Abi's hormones and instincts kick in for her new cubs. I mention no one taught Abi what to do from displaying while in heat, breeding, rolling, eating , more, then giving birth, nursing, calling, licking, and protecting her cubs. Since she trusts certain people (now even more people) she and her cubs get the best nurturing care possible and why I mention I am a HUGE fan of captive interactive care. It just means better success and better overall care for the animal. Just look and observe here and in the future.

I know. Abi places unmatched trust in some of the caretakers. Not me, but she is getting better and relaxed with everyone.

THx. Abi is very sweet. Became a hormonal protective mother but still not violent and calmed down after seeing everyone cool with her and her cubs. I asked for the caretakers of the cubs to be humanized so I can have the cubs cared for by anyone that is hired or there. The female cub will be legally mine and I may loan her to another breeding project one day and want her tamed so they can care for her safely. It is all working. The cubs are already used to people. I will show in future videos.

Surly! She will be raising these cubs until ready to separate which is in about one to 1.2 years when they are adult. The female cub will be part of the breeding program and the male is owned by the fathers owner and will either be the same and/or released into the wild. That is what this cheetah project does.
I feel so privileged to see Abi give birth to her cubs. Thank you, Dolph, for sharing the great and important work you and others at Cheetah Rescue do to save this incredible species of cat. Cheetahs amaze me with their gentle nature.

Abi is so wonderful. A cliche statement, but it applies to her. She is very sweet and loving and has matured SO much over just a year after I brought her to this project. Same one Gabriel is at, my male cheetah. She is one that enjoys coming to you for snuggles and even sleepovers! Staff had to do 24hr watch over the cubs so they would secure their safety and spent it with her and the cubs in their wooden den. Abi used to spend nights at another project with volunteers (like me!) and so enjoys the sleepovers too. You see a night I spent with her this year in this video. At 3:11
OMG They are all soooooo cuuuuute...!!!😍😍😍😍 I´m so happy that Abi was able to bear cubs, she´s such a sweet girl. You could tell from her facial expression that birth was painful. But her cubs are so adorable! Hope that there will be more cheetah cubs in future...!

She did so amazing! She was ready for nature to bring cubs to this world. I was truly impressed how she changed to. VERY protective over the cubs, but she relaxed and allowed me to see them and now is quite calm about people milling about. Her instincts were amazing. She called to them, cleaned their bottoms to get them to defecate and ALWAYS worried where they are and responds to their calls. Just amazing. Even the cubs show their survival instincts, like the calls, looking for a nipple and constantly moving to get those weak legs to work!
Whoever was in the room when she was giving birth must be so trusted by Abi, she didn't seem nervous at all at a person holding her brand new baby. So sweet

Yup, exactly. Abi likes adult women mostly and that was the one spending most time with Abi. The founder of the project.

I know! wonderful. I wonder what cheetahs think of their caretakers? I swear Gabriel thinks of me as a coalition friend but definitely displays dominance. I am not his equal. Abi just loves to be touched, rubs, and attention.

Abi has turned out to be a superb mother! SHe is already very loving to people and now focused on worrying about her cubs. SHe calls and worries about them like a mother. I'll show some of that video too. She goes on nature walks off lead with them in a veld area next door!

My life dream, cuddling with a cheetah. I have always loved them. Just to pat one I would die happy. Love the little ones. Poor momma. I'm happy to see them doing well. They got the short end of the stick, other animals steal the food that cheetahs work so hard to get as well as predators killing cheetah cubs. God bless you and yours, stay safe always.

Welcome and you can volunteer too. My cheetahs are at www.runningwildconservation.org and have a volly program. It's emphasis is caring, raising, and release but encounters happen when the cheetah decides (for the tamed ones). THey go on nature walks with some of them and encounters happen. You have to enter their enclosures to clean and some are friendly and come to you.
What a delight you are able to reestablish that beautiful relationship. This honestly brings me to tears. I think she likes you 😉😉😍😻

Ahhh that is so nice. You give consistent love and respect to just about any animals and it will show it back. All mammals, birds, and many reptiles but not sure about amphibians.

Abi is a wonderful loving cheetah. So protective of her CUBS too. She has relaxed now and learned folks around her cubs are OK now. THey even go all together, people, Abi and cubs on open off leash Veld walks in the bush. I will show this in the future here.

The cubs are cute, but I have to say, even Abi herself is loaded with the cuteness and I so envy Dolph for getting to be close to her and hearing her purr. I guess I will settle for stealing the affection and having a similar behavior from my neighbors cats... I mean if they roll on their back at my feet, I must be doing something right.

She IS. I'll show how caring she is for her cubs. Always calls to them and initially worried about some people coming into to care for the camp they are in. She is TOTALLY accepting now. She's seen how everyone who is there loves cheetahs so much and she relaxed. I'll show some nature walks they all went on in the future.

I know. Quite unexpected and so wonderful! Abi was mainly rescue cheetah who is handicapped, bad hip and can't be released. Vets said she could safely have cubs and she did!

True... not luck, combination of Abi's personality and of course people who consistently love and respect her. She likes encounters so that made it easy. But she LOVES any woman no matter what. That who was inside the birthing den with her. She trust that women more than anyone.

Gabriel is doing super and saw and met the cubs between the fence already. He didn't do anything but be curious but the cubs didn't like him. As they should not trust him, like in the wild. Don't trust any predator but mom.

I will show as much as I can and enjoying doing it. Unfortunately, I have a career outside of this to pay for my cheetahs care so see them about twice a year :( But the moments I have with and caring for them is indescribably. It means I depend on the project for video of Gabriel and Abi and now her cubs. But they are amiable which is nice. I traveled there when I heard Abi was pregnant for sure and how I got to see them.
This is so beautiful, can't wait for the follow-up video 😍 The only birth i ever was close to was a horses, on the farm of an uncle. It is a special moment.

Wow! I've never seen a live birth of anything but maybe an egg sack from insects or spiders and moths.
Looking forward to seeing them grow. Cats seem to take on their parents purrsonality and quirks. Any seems like a good mom and just like a domestic with her babies.

The world definitely needs cheetahs. I want them to have a natural wild population. Part of that process is this breeding program and produced cubs. THe future is wide open for them.

Well that SUPER! More great content to come but must admit it is slower than I want. I do ALL of it, from the capturing video to creation, to posting. I can't afford to pay anyone so that makes it very slow coming. I also have a full time job on another continent to help pay for the cheetahs I own so I only get few weeks a year to see them in person and depend on the project capturing the video for me and I collect it. Makes some video late in arrival.
That is so wonderful.

Thx. The Background of the intro is a capture of our galaxy from Hubble or some telescope. I made it move by zooming in and scrolling slowly using Adobe Premiere. Can't take credit for the template of the moving letters, but I modified it to my wants.
