This is absolutely mind-boggling for anyone's lived in Aberdeen. I unfortunately grew up there, however, I fortunately haven't lived there in over 10 years. It's absolutely shocking to hear this, of all the places in the world Aberdeen?

Because people can’t afford to live near Seattle. I’m really happy about this. My family is from there and it’s suffered long enough after the mills shut down.

@@troysaul6323 it’s been one of the most destitute places since the mills shut down. Lots of crime, drugs, and homes were only seeking for 80k at the most. Shithole really. But it’s close to the beach so it’s nice that it’s getting a facelift

Not a single one of you people even bothered to talk to Kurt, He was not a huge fan of this place He only lived here for a short number of years as a kid and the so called Memorial you people have for him.. I went there and the large wooden Guitar has trash all over the place, broken crusty condoms and graffiti all over it and just under the bridge a few meth headed homeless people were conducting a rat infested Orgy shamelessly in open daylight at your "Kurt Cobain Memorial under the bridge" I am sorry but most of these places are just garbage because the rich took over and wealthy idiots buying land and homes here just add to the garbage because trashy people follow the wealthy as the wealthy are just as bad if not Worse than the homeless druggies of which Both lack the moral value to help anyone but themselves, Stop Making prices of homes unreasonable, Stop pushing Seattle's Homeless into this area of Aberdeen and STOP the high crime & the madness And clean up our town!!!

@@karenhaggard7094 - Karen, change is not always bad and you have no idea how economics works apparently. Change your small town mind and understand that it will bring property values up, business to the area and money in your pockets. The only down side is more traffic and different culture changes. The toothless meth scene dependent on government money will not be as prevalent.

@@Eclipse1369 actually as someone who lives in aberdeen and has seen this all take place I can say this isn’t true. Most people cannot afford to rent a shitty house and our “toothless meth head” population that you mentioned seems to only be growing. All that’s happening is locals getting priced out of an area that shouldn’t be worth even close to what it is. While it’s good to see the town growing, so far it’s led to nothing but problems.

the houses are not particularly cheap. zillow or house flippers may have bought a grouping of houses. just lately it would appear there are quite a few are for sale. there are not that many houses here. so for how few houses there are there are a lot of them for sale.

So the livelyhoods if the people in Aberdeen was stripped away by the do holders and environmentalists and so people lost their homes... had to become homeless and now you say houses are being flipped that use to belong to these families and you think there is pride in that?? What a depressing place with so much homelessness and drug addicts. Just greed... unbelievable....

Aberdeen, WA is not located along the Pacific Ocean coastline but right beside the Chehalis River about 15 miles from the Ocean. The community of Hoquiam lies abutted to the west. I was a resident of Grays Harbor County for about 3 years. I retired from the US Navy at the SOSUS (sound surveillance system) in Pacific Beach, WA. My niece lives in Aberdeen. My brother is in Centralia and my sister is in Tacoma. We have the area surrounded, don't we? I left Seattle for the SW in '89. Too much rain up there. Happy mothers to those moms that are here.

I never heard of this area before I moved here 5 years ago. After looking on Zillow and Hubzu, The house's were extremely cheap here, at that time. The baby boomers are retiring at a rapid rate, and they want to get out of the big cities.

Well the fact that Washington state has the highest teenage suicide rate in the United States and the county of Grays Harbor which Aberdeen is in has the highest suicide rate for teenagers in Washington State meaning that Aberdeen has one of the highest teenage suicide rates in the United States. The opioid epidemic started to destroy Aberdeen about 15 years ago and then about 10 years ago when heroin was introduced things went from bad too much worse. I would not recommend anyone move there to start to raise a family or for any reason at all for that matter. The only reason I can think of to move to Aberdeen is if you're a drug addict and you'd like to be somewhere where there's a massive amount of heroin, then Aberdeen's a place for you. I would stay about as far away from Grays Harbor County as humanly possible if heroin isn't your cup of tea.
