One thing I find very interesting is that, when asked about the 'burden of expectation' put on children of famous families, JFK Jr. made a comment about the extra opportunities that those children have. He understood the privilege he was born into. And he didn't take himself as seriously as he might have. I really admire that. A lovely man indeed...

This could be why my friend's father, never allowed my friend to even get into the same business. His father had all his associates, and even competitors not allow his son into the same business. My friend got into the business anyway, and gave speeches about how his father refused to help him, but he made it anyway. Then he bought out his father's business with his father laughing about how "I'm gonna sell it to the competition, and not you." My friend won the bidding war for the company. We always thought his dad was a jerk for not wanting him to be a contractor, that he must just be the dumb son, not even good enough to be in the industry.

He always comes across in interviews as a gentleman in the real sense of the term. Gentle and kindly and with a modest nature. He was so good looking he attracted probably too many women and not necessarily all of the kind best suited to him. The happiness Walters refers to in his marriage has been contradicted by more than one thing I've read. Ultimately, the loss of this Son of America was a painful thing not only to the nation, but to all those of us who liked and respected him.

Yes he was one absolutely handsome man. Those who labeled him the hunk were simply jealous. I don't blame his mother for telling him he was not going to be an actor. Someone has to maintain standards of decency in this depraved society. Hollywood would have been waiting to destroy him. His very humble attitude added to his attractiveness. Say what you will about First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. We must give her credit for raising two intelligent, humble, classy children. KUDOS Mrs. Kennedy for being a great mother.

The most heart-breaking moment for me would probably be at 3:35 when everyone is getting off the plane, and the kids running to greet their fathers. As a child, I loved to jump into my father's arms, like the two others did with their own children. It must be disappointing for John-john and Caroline to know that they couldn't do the same with JFK. It must have been hard for him as well, longing to carry them too.

They were wrong about a few things here: one, the magazine George was not successful, in fact it was failing at the time of his death. Furthermore, his marriage with Carolyn was also on the rocks. She was deeply unhappy living with the constant strain of the paparazzi's and she had a cocaine problem. Peter Jennings thinking that John Jr's memory would outlive Diana's is also wrong: we hear about Diana all the time, most notably just yesterday with the celebration of what would have been her 60th birthday. As for John, we never hear about him at all. He is largely forgotten. And that's because other than being the son of a President and being a heart-throb, he accomplished nothing with his life. There is no legacy.

He was almost as beautiful as his drop dead gorgeous Mom and Dad. We Americans do love our royalty, as long as they stay in Hollywood where they belong. Their royal-ness have no part to play, however, in our great Democracy. For nothing is more regal than the greatest Democracy still left standing tall and strong upon this earth.

OOPs Barbara. His family did NOT call him John John. He said on video that his dad was calling him and just repeated his name (probably to get his attention) and that some journalist heard that and he was dubbed John John by the press. His family called him John. John said in his Stern interview that he only met Madonna at a party and they spoke for a couple of minutes. The relationship WAS just a rumor. Bull shit speculation -- how would his mother cope with this death if she were alive. Puleeese, Barbara. It's SO not a factor. It would be nice if here were still here doing EXACTLY what HE wanted to do (not only what others want of him).
