    The Stig was kind of like Chewbacca. The charm came from the fact that he didn't talk and through your imagination you filled in the blanks. When the show was reinvented and they introduced the American, it was almost like how the prequels got Jar Jar. The guy talked, which took away all charm from the character.

    This is a argument that has been raging since engine's had a wheel strapped on each corner. But of all the drivers I've seen or heard of there is just one who inspired me. Ayrton Senna. I know there will be so many for or against, but I want to say that Ayrton inspired me. Same as Nigel or Lewis or Alain or Keke or Jimmy or Niki or James. Or a driver that drove beyond what was normal on a forgotten track on a sunny day on a long forgotten weekend. IT DOESN'T MATTER. That person inspired you. Each and every driver risks life and limb every time they step into a cockpit and the engine growls in anger. They are all heroes in their way. It's just a handful of drivers rise to the top consistently. Schumacher, Hamilton, Senna, Prost etc. I am not a fan of Senna for obvious reasons, and that's my opinion. It counts for nothing. Hill, Villeneuve and Schumacher knows what happened.

    Great interview. I knew it was clarkson, I've watched the shows (TG and GT) for it's entire duration, and all joking around aside, you can tell he's actually the best driver. On top of that, Abbie was a great addition to the Grand Tour, full props to her. She absolutely a great driver, and full of personality... completely charming in a different way from Sabine. While I may be a blokey bloke, I just can't stress how much we need to have women like this sharing these passions with us. Also, I wept hot tears of blood, along with Clarkson (and most of the audience), when he announced the end of the show. Ok, it's great they will be keeping on with the specials, but I really hope we see more of Abbie too. Incidentally, as an Aussie (now in the UK), she's spot on about the v8 supercars. I grew up with that series, have seen them in person, and there is *nothing* like them except F1 and the Champ series when it was around. Pure insane brute force, no driver aids, mixed with some of the most precise and disciplined driving, and tracks that are frankly just insane, including the greatest track in the world... Bathurst. I really hope she gets a seat in a V8 team, she'd be an awesome addition to the series.

  • @filmandfirearms

    @filmandfirearms

    4 жыл бұрын

    As an American, I have immense respect for V8 supercars. I feel like it's what NASCAR should be, rather than just driving in circles for hours on end in cars that have precisely 0 unique features, mechanically or visually. In V8 supercars, yeah the engines are pretty tightly regulated, but you've still got a million different suspension and gearing settings you could run on any track. I don't know if I'd agree that Bathurst is the best track in the world, but it's definitely up there. Personally, I prefer Baku, but I can see where you're coming from. There are definitely a shortage of car girls, though, but I think there's more out there than we might realize, mainly due to those dumbasses who refuse to accept that a woman could possibly like cars. I recently got into an argument with one, in fact. He was claiming that any woman who calls herself a car girl is automatically a gold digger. Pretty sure most women wouldn't like being accused of that just for liking what they like, and he isn't alone, so I think there are a lot of car girls out there that just don't want to be open about it

But I'm just looking for the fun factor. And I know from experience I have more fun with a car when I know the tires will be replaced next week anyway. That's the direction I'm thinking. I don't mind a little less grip. I love pushing the limits of a car in snow and rain too (even on summer tires).

  • @nirfz

    @nirfz

    @@robertvandeneijk1284 I don't mind if you take your tires to their end before replacing them in a safe envirement, but my point is: Bigger Brakes are vital for driving spirited, but good tires are vital for driving! 2 Examples: 1) Long ago i bought a set of summer tires, i had never heard before. (only once in my life). They got loud after one season and as i was about to learn, started to dislike wet weather. When i turned left at a crossing in the city, hoping to get through before the lights switched, the rear of the car suddenly tried to overtake. It didn't help that the automatic gearbox changed down exactely at the moment the weight of the car shifted to the right. As there was no clutch, i had to "ride out" the drift and managed to neither hit the byciclist on my left nor the pedestrians on the right (waiting to cross the street). Luckily i had the right reflexes and my seating position was good. But afterwards i headed home very cautious and quite slow. 2) In my >20 years of driving i had to do a fair number of emergency brakings (on Autobahns, in the city; on snow, ice, in the dry, in the wet...). Most cars have adequate brakes for that (they can cope with one such braking at a time). Imagine you have to do such an action because a child runs into the street. Could you psychologically handle it, when you hit the child because of your choice to use bad/wrong/old/wornout tires?

    Clarkson was a friend of my older brother back home in Rotherham, UK. He was in his 20s then and couldn't even drive a car. I have great memories of him visiting our family home on a 50cc moped with L plates attached.

    That's the best you can have. This was her last job interview. This man has his brain directly connected to his tongue with no filters. When he wants to joke with you he does it. When hates you he tells you. Plain and simple. If you can't deal with it better find another job.

    Maybe it's because we can see her eyes when she's filmed on the track, and we could never see Stig's, but I feel Abbie drives more aggressively and attacks the track. Would love to see a race between the two.

    She’s been behind the wheel on the track quite sum. She must’ve started real young. You can somewhat tell based on her “helmet neck” (a muscular neck do to the long use of an automotive racing helmet that can weigh between 1.4 and nearly 2 kilos). She’s a brilliant, talented young lass. Glad to hear words from her.

    I wanted to be a V8 Supercars driver for a while in my teens 😄 it's traditionally been a very Australian series with very Australian cars... now that there are no cars made in Australia, the focus has broadened a bit from the two horse race of old, which i think makes it a touring series with potential
