i believe he quit smoking quite some time ago because it was affecting his voice and ability to hit the higher notes.

Seeing the joy on McCartney's face and seeing him hold back his tears is all the proof you need that Steven Tyler did extremely well here.

I know this was a tribute to Paul McCartney, arguably one of the best songwriters, guitar players, singers of all time… But I can’t help but think how underrated Steven Tyler has always been. Aerosmith is one of the greatest American rock bands and his voice is incomparable. This tribute, and a few others that he’s done on the Kennedy Center s show how freaking talented this man is.

Aerosmith covered 3 Beatles songs, Come Together, Helter Skelter and I'm Down... Tyler grew up breathing The Beatles, The Yardbirds, The Kinks... listen to the singles he recorded with his pre-Aerosmith band Chain Reaction, it's British pop/rock from head to toe. Of course he nailed The Beatles

I'd hardly place them in the same category. Paul McCartney is THE living legend in music. Steven Tyler is a rockstar, but also a former junkie whose music career fizzled. They're not even in the same stratosphere.

Steven Tyler is one of the great vocals of Rock, you could tell Paul McCartney was very pleased with his version of it. Steven made me proud.

Steven Tyler can sing anything and make it his own. This was an amazing performance that The Beatles would have been proud of.

Man, Mr. Tyler absolutely nailed it! He deserves all the love he gets, truly a fantastic singer and performer!

1:11 I love that moment. When he starts to sing Golden slumbers (which is a song that every hardcore beatle's fan loves)... That scream after the first phrase it's Steven, the fanboy, reminding himself he is singing the last track of the last Beatles album... in front of Sir Paul McCartney. In that moment, Steven reminds us, that he is just another fan that loves the music of the Beatles. He has said that he is a musician because of the Beatles. Joe Perry too.

We will all walk this way, and in the end . Many years from now, we will all still listen to the Beatles and Aerosmith

I watch this medley at least once a week, its so perfect and fills me with joy, it honoured Paul and the Beatles well. Steven Tyler is also a treasure - he needs his own Kennedy Center Honour!

I think Oprah should have her ass behind Paul, not his wife. I met Oprah before she decided to try to run our Country... she was Salt of the Earth. It was a fabulous trip to Chicago & she took tons of time to each guest, even asked if you had something pertinent going on in your life... pertinent to the subject matter that is.

Love how versatile Steven Tyler is, A truly rock and roll genius as he gave his tribute truly dominant!

Steven Tyler with Aerosmith already had a ability to do justice to the Beatle songs they covered. Helter Skelter, Come Together and I'm Down. This performance was great!

This was a big deal for Tyler. The little glance seeking approval at 1:22 shows it. He absolutely nailed it. Arrangement and backing musicians were excellent too.

A very prophetic line in the song, ".. and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.."

Wonderful Stephen Tyler. He sings with heart and soul. He’s amazing!!!

One of the best cover I ever heard. The Beatles will be my ever best band but Steven Tyler voice is something that no one can have.

Totally agree. You can see,and feel the love Nancy has for Paul. I’m very glad for Paul, he deserves it. The only downside I saw was “Bring down the Royals Winfrey” sitting next to Paul . Winfrey didn’t deserve that honor by a long shot .

Nails it...what a singer Tyler is! Even Macca looked a bit in awe of him singing his own medley that good.

I love it when two of your friends turn out to be friends of each other already.

As a little kid growing up I had three favorite bands. Beatles, Aerosmith, Manic Street Preachers. I saw Aerosmith in Vegas. I saw Paul McCartney in Oakland and I saw the Manics in SF. All in an amazing 18 month period.

I saw Paul McCartney at Fenway Park in Boston a couple of months ago. He 's not only a suberb musician and singer still, but he's a lovely person as well. I was on a musical high for a month!
