Considering the history this place looks better than a lot of the places Dan Bell visits.

Great explore. I hate to ruin your next hotel experience, but I hope you don't really think that the bed in a $300 a night room is any different than one in a $50 a night room. As a hotel GM, I can tell you that the only difference is a $25 prostitute VS a $100 one. There are still hundreds of people that have slept, or done whatever in that bed. Bed bugs.... High end hotels have just as many issues, high paying foreign travelers that come from other countries is the biggest issue. They bring them with them. A lot of other countries don't even treat rooms that have them. It's unsettling to think something is sucking your blood while you sleep, but at least they don't carry diseases like mosquitoes. Have a great night sleep!

@Dusk Raccoon yes and no. Most reputable hotels take the pests very seriously due to lawsuits. I disagree that most hotels are managed poorly (my opinion from what I see in the industry). That would cover 90% of hotels, if you are staying in the other 10%.... Well, good luck with that. Lol. You have a better chance getting bed bugs in a theater or public transportation than you do in a hotel... Unless you're in the cheap no brand name no tell motel!

I agree! I get the heebie jeebies just walking down empty corridors in some in use motels/hotels today. We travel alot with our jobs, so we end up in them quite often. The feelings I get sometimes, and these are not dumps either, you can't convince me that human emotions/past visitors don't leave an imprint in some cases.

Cool explore. Many years ago (20 years or so) I worked as a hotel maintenance guy in a hotel like this. Bad things get erased quickly with fresh texture paint or wallpaper so you'll likely never find out where anything happened. After a murder/suicide we changed the mattress, recliner, carpet, ripped down the wallpaper where the brain matter and blood stained the wall and texture painted over...and the room is still rented as if nothing ever happened. Something to consider while doing hotels like this one...check under every bed mattress. We had a lot of truckers and you'd be surprised at the weird perverted stuff they leave hidden behind under the mattresses...lol.

Seeing places like this makes me sick. With as many homeless people we have in the USA we have more than enough abandoned buildings that could be fixed up. My family and I were homeless after a house fire for over a year. People think that you get so much help if ur homeless. Guess what thats NOT THE TRUTH!

can someone please tell me why there are so many abandoned motels in the USA? why they don't re-use the building or thieves steal the things?

I think every town has a No Tell Motel. I live out in the boonies, in a picturesque small, southern town but out by the interstate is a truck stop and a nasty Red Carpet Inn that’s been raided like 3 times just this year. I feel bad for anyone who accidentally books that place online. It’s scary there.

I Usually put the bedspreads at Hotels/Motels in a pile in the corner. I'm with you it's a little nasty, I saw a story years ago on the TODAY show about how dirty they are. At least if you have them at home you can wash them as often as you like.

The editing never disappoints. The clips near the end reminded me of a Rob Zombie horror flick (not a bad thing I love his movies). I would assume a lot of your explores are on the East Coast? Here in Colorado there really isn't that many abandoned buildings. They are usually demolished right away. Keep doing what you do.

What an odd find! For a place abandoned in 2013 , it looks wayyyy outdated which probably led to its downfall. Also that tacky looking bar/restaurant doesn’t help.

The rediwhip was use to get high. It's called whipits. The don't shake the can, hold it upright and inhale the gasses that propel the product out. It's a short term high but can mess the idiot up for about 30 minutes. I work retail and we fi d lots of can stashed away where people have gotten high. It's sad. Great video! If the walls could talk.

That's not a jacuzzi. It's a kiddy pool type thing for smaller kids.

Thanks for the halloween guided tour of the abandoned motel, and you made it extra creepy scary. 👻 There probably was a lot of incendiary things going on there. Anyone using the alarm clock is probably just trying to keep a job. I pray they find a good home. You have to check the corners of the mattress and discoloration for bed bugs. Don't worry. Ortho has a new product now that works. It's really hard to find in the stores; you have to order it online. Peace. 🙂

I've been meaning to ask, with all the scrappers and scavengers why do they leave the building intact. If a property goes under, wouldn't they want to gank the phones, TVs, computers, all the scraps of metal, the brass furniture (lamps and stuff). And bring them to scrappers, or disecct these materials and smelt them themselves? It seems like the thing to do.

Nah, it closed for a reason. Probably after a long, drawn out decline from Seventies hotspot to seedy drug den as the long-distance travelers that once kept these places going gradually dried up. No-one drives cross-country now that gas is expensive and a cheap flight can be had for less than a night in a roach motel. So these places ended up being used for insalubrious things by the local suspects. My late wife and I briefly considered buying one of these mom-and-pop motels (nothing on this kind of scale, just some cool little retro MCM thing with a big old neon outside) and quickly realised that most of them were cheap for a reason. In her home town most are now either used as self-storage units or rented by the hour, or have been torn down and replaced with condos.

Well the nightclub was probably the whole reason why the hotel had so many issues. Wasn’t the best idea. I also was going to go to bed once I finished this but those Halloween “shots” put me a bit on edge.

You read my mind- was thinking- you should have a spin-off/extra content; when you go to a hotel/motel bring a Ultra-Violet light w/you to reveal gnarly stuff that used to/still does go on in the beds, ceilings, bathrooms etc. If you need some1 w/exp. & owns a really fancy UV light set up (perfect for your purpose) I'm in. That gross stuff may degrade, but not anytime soon~HIT ME UP! lol

I really liked the pool with the jacuzzi and windows built in! I've never seen one like that either! Nicest thing about that grungie hotel!

Place looks to be late 1960s or early 70s going by the architecture. I bet it was lovely when it opened, before it's long drawn out decline into roach-infested hellhole.

Great explore! Vid was awesome. As an aside, book direct with hotels instead of with Priceline/Expedia etc - the hotels will match or beat their prices if you call the hotel direct. :)
