Abandoned Lennox Castle - SCOTLAND
Been meaning to explore this castle for years but always something else got in the way, got there eventually though and thanks to Alastair MacLean for the aerial photography on the castle

Wow. That place must have been something else back in the day. Cool explore Alec! 👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely gorgeous! Y’all had such a beautiful day to explore. The sky and scenery can’t be beat. Beautiful ruins too. Held my breath on those sketchy stairs. Lol Thanks for another awesome explore!!😊
I absolutely love these old castles. Scotland seems to have the biggest & best. Hopefully you guys find more in the future. Thank you. Much love & respect. 😊👍🖤
Listening to the birds is absolutely beautiful. The castle must have been beautiful when it was livable, bustling with life back in the day. Looked it up and what a history. It was the ground that was the problem with this castle. Come here ma wee beauty!!🤣🤣 Thanks Alec for another great find!!👩🦳💗
There's the happy little tire swing! ( Oh Brother Where Art Thou reference)...great vid😎

Hi Alex..This castle is stunning.
Balls of steel that man; pure Chris Bonington until you bumped into those two lassies who appeared to be undermining the element of risk. Great fun to watch. Well done to you both; competent and near seamless editing. Don't be trying this at home kids.

Hey Alex Good morning 👋 Wish you good heath.
Come on Scotland stop allowing these beautiful castles to end up like this ,such a beautiful country with such history and castles and they are all ending up a a fkn pile of rubble :( this place is beautiful standing on the other side of the fence like this so god I would have loved to be able to see it when she was built and loved and not forgotten. Beautiful castles ,manors and even old farm houses that all end up like this . Thank you for your videos because if I could and had the money I'd be in Scotland doing this exact same thing traveling every inch of the country to see every castle and manor and ofcoursr if I had millions or endless money I'd buy myself a forgotten castle lol . It's literally been a dream ever since I was a little girl I've been drawn to Scotland and always felt like that's where I really belong and dreamt of getting to see the history to even touch a castle ruin to feel and imagine the history that touched that stone or wall damnnn .. THANKS I'm thankful I get to atleast see it thru you and online because I'm never going to get there I'm coming to terms with that since i never it by the time I was 30 lile I always planned and I'm 32 now so it sucks lol

OMG, the history of this place is horrific! It was probably beautiful once, but it became a living nightmare for so many people.
my grans brother was in that castle when it was a mental hospital at one point in his life for a bit i think it used to get used for ghost hunting as i remember reading somewhere a good while back
You are very courageous to climb these stairs !!! I would be very afraid ! Take care of you !
It’s interesting how you can make out the different levels when looking at the walls. It must have been a beauty,
Imagine all the memories that place holds. The people who walked in the same footsteps you are as you’re doing this video. Or how many times they’ve looked at the same things you’re pointing you’re camera at. Sometimes I think like that as I watch your videos. I like them😉 Edit: I LOVE THEM. You sir, are a proper beast.

Hi Alec. What a beautiful ruin. Those steps were so dodgy. You are brave or are you crazy? Is this all natural decay or someone who doesn't want to pay taxes. Guess it's too far gone to be fixed up. Pity. Thanks for the tour and take care. Was there a fire here? Glad you didn't get stuck.

i worked under the castle 35 years ago, im sure theres access from the main building, we insulated all the pipe work to control the heat, i remember there where rooms off the tunnel with old furniture in them, i was there about a year ago and found a small tunnel in the main building but didn't explore.
THIS IS MY 9th GREAT GRANDFATHERS HOME. Esme Stuart. First Duke of Lennox. Im hoping to reclaim it for my family!
This is a bigger surprise it only closed down in 2002 snd the remaining patients were placed back in the community
@SnowPink90
3 жыл бұрын
We had a similar story of a mental hospital that closed down and the patients put in halfway houses throughout the city. Soon those in charge were to realize that these patients shouldn’t be in the community so they fixed the place up and reopened it recently. All the patients are back in the hospital.
Lovely castle in it's day very sad history
There is more collapse to come - see the cracks in the stone walls. Some of the strength of the structure comes from the various parts bearing on each other. Take away the collapsed wall and others are left without support
Great explore Alec. What was that shaft you climbed down near the end, an escape hatch?

Wow...that is everything a Castle should be...too bad it has fallen in
It looks like part of it could be saved, but the other part would need to be rebuilt from the ground up. Too bad so much of Scottish heritage buildings are in this condition. If they could be restored, the country could make a mint in TOURISM.
There were tunnels connecting all of the now demolished wards where the new housing estate is and a Celtic training grounds - must be miles of them still there or buried
