The Jake Origin Story: I grew up with glasses, 5.00 diopter high myopia, and yet today have 20/20 natural eyesight. No surgery, no glasses, I figured out how myopia actually works and how to reverse it (and no, not eye exercises!) The mainstream tells you it's impossible - but the whole concept that myopia is an illness, is complete unscientific nonsense (a 100 billion dollar a year profitable nonsense, though).

    And optometrist always test your eyes in the pitch black and over-prescribe you for normal lighting! After that over-prescription your power goes up and you'll need NEW glasses again. No wonder it's a multi million dollar business. Make your own customer base and then sell them overpriced frames.

    @@leylarzazade Individual experience varies. I've found that lots of sugar makes it hard for me to do active focus the next day or two. Some people don't have that, so we are careful in EM about saying something like "sugar is bad for eyesight" because they're lots of other variables. More so, if you find that you're doing well, and then one day, your vision is noticeably worse, it's worth it to look at what you did the day or two before (sleep, amount of close up, food, stress) to try and understand how lifestyle factors might affect your vision.

I'm now at -0.5 SPH -0.75 CYL. It's really helped to hear someone else describe the experience of double vision due to astigmatism. I have the same albeit starting out at a much lower level. It's tricky to figure out in the beginning but I think I'm starting to reduce the astigmatism now.

    Astigmatism (equals 2 focal points normally) shows up more the darker the scene. That's what I found out. Outside in the sunshine glasses or lenses without astigmatism correction can even look perfect depending on prescription. Why? My theory that I didn't read anywhere is that your iris is at its smallest in that scenario and so the other curve of the cornea does not interfere. The bigger the iris the more light through the other curve and the more that other focus point start messing things up. Makes sense? Btw easy to see if you have it with a radial figure. Move it away from your eyes, if all lines remain similar sharp/black/thick, you do not have it. If you see at point A one line sharp, and at another point B another line shape, normally 90 degrees from the first one you (still?) have it.

    Thanks to the both of you for sharing, and providing so many insights. Aaron, I'm curious to know a little about your everyday tasks and lifestyle. I agree with and understand the concept of not relying on a pair of eyeglasses to assist your move, and if using them it being nice to slowly ween ones self into the independence of learning to improve and adapt without them. Are there any tasks that you find that would require the efficiency of eyeglasses. You mention for watching tv, games, and work presentations you prefer that help. But are there any tasks, such as reading or those related to working on a laptop for periods at a time. Or even in the beginning of the process and noticing how more quickly and effectively you can get stuff done with a quality and efficient level of eyesight? I think you said you had been wearing glasses for awhile before beginning your process. During these stages, how did you train your eyes to handle and do well with the balance of tasks and adjusting your natural eyesight to the capabilities you had by wearing your prescription? As a beginner wearer I notice how the tasks you wouldn't expect or think to be a big deal, like housecleaning and different activities, actually benefit too from the efficiencies of completing things and...... I see you're nearsighted. So do you have perfect or good vision seeing up close as well?

    I also experience the double vision in my right eye. It was given all the astigmatism values from -0.5 to -1.75 in past. Last one before EM was cyl -0.5, which I was wearing in both eyes. With starting EM I got it measured at home by lens kit and found that it was only in RE. So I dropped it altogether as it's anywhere doesn't interfere in my binocular vision. Now, it's about one year, still I have astigmatism in RE i. e DV, but it's like letters of snellen surrounded by blurry artifacts. But I can read the letters as they are black and bold. I guess that's an improvement in astigmatism too along with myopia.

    Fascinating at the end about diet, and that it may affect one's vision improvements. I've spent a *lot* of energy trying to get to an anti-inflammatory diet over the last few years - majorly helping my dad recover from autoimmune diseases, and inadvertently clearing my eczema in the process by making the same changes - but hadn't considered possible effects of diet on the eyes. I would wager that it's not necessarily a matter of being entirely plant or meat-based, but that a number of staple vegan foods are unfortunately quite inflammatory (whole grains, corn, etc.) , especially if improperly prepared (beans that aren't soaked, etc.). And one really does need vitamin B12 - from meat proteins - which those following a plant-based diet aren't able to get. Off the cuff, I think the main advantage about a "carnivore" diet is avoiding the grains as much as possible (esp gluten). There are so many wonderful vegetables and fruits out there, but you have to eat the *right* ones, and in certain cases make sure they're properly prepared. Healthy gut equals healthy body. :)

    High blood sugars can have myriad strange effects. I’d known about diabetic myopia, but was surprised to read in Dr. Joseph Kraft’s book (Diabetic Epidemic and You) that it is linked to tinnitus, ringing in the ear. A carnivore diet is as low in carbs as a human can go, so it intrigued me to hear that it might be linked to Aaron’s ordinary vision improvement.

    4 жыл бұрын

    Rick Yes, it is ‘something new’, because it is false. Low carbohydrate diets reduce blood sugar very reliably. Please reference the Virta Health Study on diabetic patients for details. Regarding Shawn Baker’s seemingly high glucose numbers; how do you explain that his fasting insulin is rock bottom at the same time? If you don’t understand the physiology, it can’t be explained. Dr. Kahn either doesn’t understand ‘glucose sparing’ or he is untruthful. Either way, he can’t be trusted for his opinions on Baker’s health.

  • @Based_Chameleon

    @Based_Chameleon

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@coffeemachtspass His blood sugar is high likely due to low Insulin. The theory goes that on extremely low carb diets the body keeps the blood sugar high so that glucose is available at all time. There are certain cells in the human body that exclusively burn glucose, so the body needs to have some available at all times or one would die. The other theory is Insulin resistance caused by a high fat diet. Those are the theories right now. What the actual cause is we cannot say until there is actual mechanistic data showing it. The carnivore diet has been around for 2 years maybe. At the moment the scientific research doesn't exist. Shawn Baker's overall blood test was horrible. He had elevated LDLC levels and is thus at risk of ASCVD. His testosterone was also extremely low. I'll check the study later. It seems that moderate low carb diets don't have the same effect on blood sugar levels as no carb diets like the carnivore diet. As I said, scientific research is needed to verify what the actual cause of high blood sugar is with the Carnivore diet. At the moment it is totally unscientific to recommend this diet to anyone. No wonder Shawn Baker lost his licence.

  • @coffeemachtspass

    @coffeemachtspass

    4 жыл бұрын

    Rick I agree with most of what you said. Disagreements: That unglycated LDL is an unambiguous marker. Elevated LDL is also associated with lower infection rates and cancer. In women over 60, it is strongly correlated with longevity. From mid-1960s data, median American ate a moderately low carb diet: 45% calories from carbs. CVD was high, but smoking rates and environmental toxins were unregulated (both of which can be directly linked to CVD causatively). Carnivore diets are uncommon today, but not in the past. Plains Indians spent much of the year eating nothing but buffalo. There are medical reports on their health before adopting grains and sugar. Low cancer rates, robust and lean bodies, no diabetic symptoms.

  • @coffeemachtspass

    @coffeemachtspass

    Rick Hi. Shawn Baker’s medical license has been reinstated. As far as I know, it has had nothing to do with his personal dietary choices. A low fasting insulin at the same time as a raised blood glucose. That is a very strange beast indeed, unless you are a Type 1 Diabetic, which Baker certainly isn’t. [Edited to add a useful link regarding LCHF dieters glucose uptake mimicking the low insulin response of a Type 1 without the metabolic derangement of that condition: profgrant.com/2013/08/16/joseph-kraft-why-hyperinsulinemia-matters/] Baker has shown his results from the Coronary Artery Calcium scan, which has the advantage over lipid markers in that it can actually see calcified plaque. The actual disease. Baker had zero calcified plaque. Why rely upon a weak marker of CVD when I far more significant one shows no disease? As I put forward, it is historically true that humans have relied upon animal foods, even exclusively, for our entire evolution. I think that the burden of proof is on anyone who claims that natural meat, fish, and eggs are unhealthy to make the case, not the reverse.

    Yes of course I’m faking, because that wouldn’t be obvious in a video. (Do plus lenses exist? Is the first question always whether there’s something sinister going on?)

    @@endmyopia lol im joking Jake. Didnt know you were wearing plus lenses. I like your reduced lense therapy method, it does decrease ones dependency for glasses.
