I have to say that both Chris and Aaron make me cry like baby every time I listen to this song. I was raised not show emotion and told "be a man, men don't cry! You gotta be tough!" I am a man and I am stronger for being a man that can feel emotion and who is not afraid to cry. This song is the story of my life before I quit drinking. My love left me for 15 years and I have had her back now for 4 years. No alcohol for 13 years. They both are great artists and vocalists and sing with emotion because they have lived most of the songs they sing and write. Heartache, addiction, loneliness and a suffering felt in the soul over the loss of control and the woman who they love is all I hear in both of their versions. Arguing over who is better or sucks is a serious waste of time that could be better spent listening to great music and giving positive praises instead of all the negativity. This world has enough hurt. Spread some happiness around instead!

I’m lost and heartbroken, but I’m trying to keep it together for our boys and my other kids but man it’s hard and I’ve started drinking again and be alone forever..

There's a bottle, on the dresser by your ring And it's empty, so right now I don't feel a thing But I'll be hurtin', when I wake up on the floor But I'll be over it by noon That's the difference between whiskey and you Come tomorrow, I can walk in any store It ain't a problem, they'll always sell me more But your forgiveness, well that's something I can't buy There ain't a thing that I can do That's the difference between whiskey and you And one's a devil, and one keeps driving me insane At times I wonder, if they ain't both the same And one's a liar, that helps to hide me from my pain And one's a long gone bitter truth That's the difference between whiskey and you I've got a problem, but it ain't like what you think I drink because I'm lonesome, an' I'm lonesome 'cause I drink But if I don't break down, and bring it on myself It'll hit out of the blue That's the difference between whiskey and you And one's a devil, and one keeps driving me insane At times I wonder, if they ain't both the same And one's a liar, that helps to hide me from my pain And one's a long gone bitter truth That's the difference, between whiskey and you Oh, that's the difference, between whiskey and you

Sold out because he doesn't do rock anymore? lol. I love that logic... that if someone changes their sound they sold out. How about times change, people change, and he still makes good music. Just because you aren't a fan doesn't mean someone sold out. Playing the same damn music for 40 years because you fear change means you will lose fans seems more like selling out to me... play what you don't like because you want the money and fame...

as i said on a video reaction to Chris singing this song, all i think of when i hear this song is could have been done by Willie, Merle, Waylon, Hank Jr & Sr, George Jones basically any of the Outlaw country guys and to find out it was done by Tim Mcgraw (i read the comments of this video) stuns me. this man has done country, simon and garfunkel and a whole bunch of other covers. he might be the most versatile man in music that brings emotion to every song he sings.

My best friend (my sister❤) showed me this album while we are both dealing with a crippling divorce at the same time. I was a little drunk and turned this on at home by myself and re-learned how to cry like a child. Nice to hear another man wearing his heart on his sleeve and you can hear in his voice he has been where I am. Thanks aaron.
