AAP Ep. 12 - Introduction to Artificial Sentience with

Welcome to episode 12 of AAP! We're joined this month by return guest Space Science Guy (formerly Vegan Space Scientist) to introduce our fourth and final cause area at AA - Artificial Sentience. What on earth is artificial sentience? What does it have to with antinatalism? And what, if anything, can we do to protect potentially sentient AI from the harms of coming into existence? Let us know your thoughts below!

Nice VId. Interestingly most people I meet also don't want AI sentience despite it being so common in media.

In science fiction, creating sentient beings (robots, AIs...) is often seen as a bad idea: machines either turn against humanity or experience suffering themself, and their creators are depicted as mad scientists or playing God. Popular culture recognize those things are bad but don't realize, I believe, that there is no real difference between creating a robot and begeting a child or breeding animals. (I guess that would be an argument for antinatalism that is more grounded in virtue ethics than in consequentialism.)
