A winter storm left things to find. Mudlarking adventure at the big bottle dump.

Storm Bella came through; raising rivers and dragging a veil of snow behind her.
In this video, I visited the biggest old dumpsite I know*, where new old things are revealed every time the river rises high enough; I found a fair few things, met some other mudlarks and bottle diggers, and had a fun time.
*filmed before UK went into lockdown, and was done carefully while maintaining social distance.
*in case anyone cares to know why I put Snow Cold on the thumb nail, it's because I had Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights stuck in my head when I was filming, and my silly mind imagined some of the things I took, singing... "Snow cold, let me in your window".
(Because, I film my roundups on a stone windowsill that would be at home in a Bronte novel).
I hope you enjoy this video. If you do, please give it a like, a subscribe, a comment, a share... whatever you feel comfortable with. Suggestions, comments and criticisms are all welcome.

Tom; you have such a relaxed attitude, without being in any way lazy. I love the way that, instead of following the gritter or trying to force your way past, you just pull over, film the sunset and watch the moon rise. I do things like that.😁 I always think that time spent, just sitting, looking, listening, watching, is time well spent. We constantly bombarded with "Oh, I'm so busy" rubbish. There's always time to just stop and, even if it looks like you're doing nothing, that's when you see the things that others miss. It's also pretty good for the old blood pressure.😁

I was amazed at finding her too... I'm so glad I did, she's absolutely going to be centre stage in whatever display I put together of lead figurines. I think 11,000 subscribers is pretty good going for someone who doesn't show his face; there's a few mudlarks who don't, and I might be doing best out of them. I think Mudlarking with Kit and Caboodlers will pass me soon, and Mudpies, and Scottish Mudlarks, and Adam's Advanced Adventures will likely pass me within a year. I don't mind... I hope to pass some craft channels when I get the hang of filming my projects properly. 🙂

How much do I love this video? Let me count the ways...1) the vast selection of items you perused Mr. Tom. 2) me, pausing the video every few seconds to scan the bank or beach, deciding which abandoned pieces of history would end up in my imaginary collection bag. 3) in my minds eye, seeing the treasures that I carefully selected, none of which were the same items collected by Tom, because that would be rude 4) the time out to chat with like-minded larkers 5) the thoughtful camera work taking in the stunning sunset; turning from golden sky to darkness lit only by the full moon & the snow-glow of reflected light 6) the final round up consisting of a visual feast of colorful bits & bobs; absolutely delightful 7) those swimming-pool-colored bottles sparkling on the sill 8) cutlery, coin & clasp 9) the unmistakable green of verdigrised copper 10) the beads, broach, buttons, battery case, bell, bottle stops, brass bits and bitsy bottles 11) the colorful pots & pottery; (although my bag contained the pieces that I favored), 12) the Amazon-like lady warrior, and finally 13) Tom's outpouring of generous gratitude towards benevolent viewers, of which, there is no better apogee!!

l've really enjoy the saga of the river, it changes so dramatically . l love watching the tall, dark and hansom cliff face, it responses to the river revealing and reflecting whatever mood they are in. You're gentle voice adds a trickle to the frame like the ripples on the water. Seeing and hearing the snow and ice being down trodden with the sound of sugar glass, it takes me back to the memories I have hidden in my mind... when I danced - red pointe shoes, as I had a family, glorious daughters and all that they achieved, nothing less than A*... on and on for them making me the happiest 'mum' alive. And all that I achieved until I could not walk more than 10 steps. And how quickly the change was so dramatic. Sorry for this ramble, it remains my only way of getting .

I'm always blown away by the colors of the bottles (blue, aqua, sea foam). Okay - jealous, too. The dump that was closest to my home was covered over to make, among other things, a ski hill (for people who like a 50' ski slope), a park with activities for kids, a broomball rink, and a swimming beach along the river. It's no longer dump-llke even after the heaviest rain or melting snow. And California has nothing to compare. I've watched one of the poetry videos. It was great (so some people watch them).

It's always wonderful to see you Tom. Thank you for taking us along on your mudlarking adventures. I'll definitely watch whatever you have on your channel and we all understand that it's best to be safe in these trying days. I'm also glad that you respect the river enough to know when not to try and get across it. I love that green patina on the copper pieces. It's a wonderful shade of green. Thank you for sharing and please stay safe!
